Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes.  What a nice surprise.  I had lots of phone calls from family & friends yesterday.  Loved talking to everyone.

Oh yum!  I've always wanted to go to Reno for Hot August Nights!  One of my neighbors does a few car shows, he has a 1965 (I think) Buick.  When I hear the rumble of his car it makes me think of my youth when I hung out with friends (guys) that belonged to car clubs!!  Ah youth!! Laughing  Sounds like a good story Lori.  Don't get me started on remembering Poodle Skirts, fuzzy dice, etc.!!  I can still drool over Corvettes like they used on Route 66.  The current ones don't excite me at all!!  They are always driven by old guys because who could afford one if they are young??!!  More Laughing

It is hard to know what to take when you travel--books that is!!  Laughing  sometimes the ones you take aren't the ones you are in the mood to read!  Oh no!  Now what!!  Undecided  The thing about traveling is that once I get to my destination I usually don't read a lot so it takes me awhile to finish reading anything.  Depending on my mode of travel, car, plane or ??, dictates how much reading is done on the way to said destination!!  Wink

for the computer woes.  That is just so unfair!  You need a friend that is a miracle worker!  I sure lucked out with mine earlier this year.  I'll hope for a miracle for you.

Since you are now in Ireland I'll hope you are having fun, reading, relaxing and enjoying the visit.  Remember to Smile!

Now I have a song running through my head!!  Smile, when your heart is breaking, smile even though, can't remember any more of the lyrics!!!  Surprised  But you get the picture.  If it wasn't for smiles, hugs and laughter I would have long ago been carted off to a mental ward!!!

Sometimes it is so hard to get yourself out of a down mood but a smile or some laughter helps to lighten it up.  I love to smile at people that look like they are having a bad day, hopefully it helps them look on the bright side. Smile

You always start great discussions.  Thanks. Smile

I try very hard not to say "I'm just a reader"!  Usually I try to say I read, I don't write or something along those lines!  After meeting authors at RWA a person realizes even more that as readers we are appreciated.  The authors would have no reason to write if we were not buying/reading books.

Many times I've said if we were all the same it would be dull & boring!  That saying can go for our reading tastes also, if we all liked the same type of books there wouldn't be so many wonderful choices.  I prefer to not read much in the way of a serious or depressing story which is probably why I read romance.  It is to escape from my world and I love knowing there will be a HEA.

Since I've never been one to hesitate to express my opinion!!!  Laughing  When I post a review on the challenge I try to not be negative in my comments.  If I read the whole book there was something in it that kept me reading.  If I loved a book I try to not say to much or give away anything so the person that looked at the review can make their own discoveries about the book.

Thanks Sadhbh for another good discussion blog.  Also thanks to those that stopped to comment.  As you all know I am not a writer but these discussions are interesting.  The hard work that goes into writing any book makes me appreciate the joy in reading that much more. Smile

Thanks to each of you that read my RWA experience.  It was the best.  In this situation you have to look for opportunities and I was lucky enough to get several experiences I would not have expected.  I knew I was probably going to get to meet all the Plotmonkeys as they were all at the literacy signing and I was hoping to meet Jill Shalvis, lucky me all that happened.  Meeting Lori, Cher, Paula, Jessica Andersen and some others were icing on the cake.

I'm not sure you can have a plan or if you have one you need to be very flexible.  One author I missed at the signing was Susan Mallery but I have no complaints and a lot of good memories. Smile

Too bad I couldn't come to the PJ party & meet everyone!  I stayed in San Francisco Wednesday night after the Literacy signing and that was about all my tapped out resources could take!!

The book signing was so fun and I got to meet several of my favorite authors.  I am so happy that I had this chance to experience RWA since it was so close to where I live.  I would have enjoyed meeting any of the eHarlequin hosts that I see here frequently but guess it wasn't meant to be!

Thanks for the link to the video.
