- Its a really tough call07/21/2008 - 17:16
.. isn't it? I know what you mean about those two in particular striking a chord and different times.. but I wanted to be 'mean' and force a favourite - looks like Love Story by a hair's breadth at this stage... but there's a few days in July yet!
Thanks Nancy - its been fun for me too

Frenchie - it's pretty close between Love Story and The Notebook at the moment! You'll have to see The Notebook sometime - its good - have you read the book? Star - I haven't seen The Lakehouse yet - I need to know the ending first! - HA!
Amanda - yes its been fun - I was amazed at the chat that it sparked here
. I decided to go for one 'sub-genre' for the top 5 - I mean, there was no way we could have a serious vote between Titanic and Schindler's List right? So top 5 weepie romances it is - and we all love romance don't we?
- 07/21/2008 - 03:18- thanks for asking after the twins. They are better thank goodness and we're another few days through winter and fingers crossed that's one virus we won't get again! Meanwhile, over at my personal blog I've narrowed down the weepie movies list to the top 5 romances that made you cry the most - please swing by and cast your vote for the winner!!! http://natalie-anderson.blogspot.com/

... I've flung one up on my other blog for you - one of those from a moves based on actual events...
Amanda - I think Colonel Brandon in that version of S&S is played by Alan Rickman who I just ADORE. He has the loveliest voice imaginable. And yes, so patient wasn't he? I thought he was wonderful. He's in a trailer on my blog too - for the first weepie I listed - Truly, Madly, Deeply - if you haven't seen it, you MUST!!!
Meanwhile, we have a list a mile long of wonderfully emotional movies - thank you so much for all the chat - its been so interesting! Any lurkers out there, come join in - and remember we'll be drawing a winner at the end of the month :)

I've been awol (my littlest twin has a big bad virus that has seen us in and out of hospital under observation these last couple of days - I HATE winter at times lie these!). Anyway, wanted to say ...
Stargirl - that Sally Field scene in Steel Magnolias gets me everytime - its the clip I chose from Youtube and put on my blog - go get the tissues! AndI ADORE Last ofthe Mohicans - yes, the soundtrack is fabulous - I MUST get it to write to actually...
Ladder59 sounds another goodie. I haven't seen Firelight either... and Mary from PA & Aurelene, Streisand is fabulous isn't she?
Articfrog - there are several kids movies that i think I cry in now more than I did as a kid... and those animal ones? I'm off those chose one to put on my blog right now actually! :)

... good point Star0925 - golly cos for many of us these weepies are ones NEVER to watch again... I think some funny movies are ones I'll never tire of watching... and romantic ones too - like good ole Dirty Dancing - gotta love that one...
Mary from PA - Its years since I saw Out of Africa - might have to add that one to my friday night list again cos it was wonderful wasn't it!

- I can't remember the name of the book - sorry! But he definitely wasn't a raven - and it wasn't a Harlequin romance either! I need my books to have happy ever afters you know?! :)
Aurelene - mosic videos!!! Argh!!! There are so many goodies out there BUT I can't think of any off the top of my head that actually made me cry - I'm not sure they're long enough for me... I need time to get to know the characters and for that I need some talking I guess.... altho I do cry with some music rather than the videos... ooooh scarily HUGE topic that one!!!!!!

Star0925, is that the one with Drew Barrymore and she goes back to school undercover??!! And doesn't want to be Josie Grossie anymore? I cried in that too. :)
Aurelene - another great movie - how cool to be in the theatre when the crowd had that reaction?!! that would make me cry in itself!!! I've only been to one movie where the audience applauded - Gone with the Wind funnily enough - another of your picks!
- 07/06/2008 - 02:41
... KimP, Silverfire and Beonlyone - I haven't seen Pay it Forward and now I know what happens at the end I don't think I want to - and you know movies are moving when the men start crying!
Amanda - I'm adding Jakob the Liar to my must see list - Robin Williams is a fantastic actor.
Alias - great to have a couple to add to the happy list. I had another entry through my email and she mentioned The Thomas Crown Affair and another cries in all the Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks movies - yay for happy tears!
Aurelene - what a list! My mum is here and wants you to know she's in complete agreement over that scene in Gone with the Wind :)
OK - I've put all these choices into a spreadsheet (!) and we're going to bundle them by category... and put one or two trailers up for each... and some more info about our books of course ;)
Keep the ideas coming if you haven't already!!!
Love Natalie

I can't BELIEVE I forgot this one!!! Actually - there are so many out there aren't there? Are there an equal number of comedies I wonder - or do you think we need the weepies more?!?!
There's another clip on my blog - be warned - tissues required.
