That's so amazing -- please thank her from us.

I'll double-check the RWA conference schedule over the weekend -- not sure whether the Thursday or Friday is more viable for people.

We should (gulp!) probably plan it to be on the early side, so it doesn't conflict with people getting to events.

    This is so exciting!

    Sadhbh,

You're in Europe, right?  I would think J.R. Ward and a HOST of other writers would take you up on your offer in a hot second!  LOL

    Jillyan,

What a wonderful opportunity to get to meet J.R. Ward!  I'm catching up on my gigantic TBR pile, and a friend just lent me her first couple of books in the series.  I'm having a blast reading them, and am envious you got to meet her because I would ask her a stack of questions!

I have to ask you -- when she was discussing her writing, did she say anything about how she chose her naming structure?  (I.E., Phury instead of Fury, Tohrment instead of Torment, etc.).  In reading the first two books, I am dying to know if there is additional symbolism there or if she was just having fun!!

Anyway, glad you had this great opportunity to get to meet her in Radcliff and thank you for writing in to share about it.  I hope that maybe one day she'll do a book signing in my neck of the woods!    Cool

I wish I had a database, too!  I'll have to guess:

Ann Major, Maureen Child, Nora Roberts, Maggie Shayne, and Heather Graham.

I can't really list a top three in that group, so I'll list those five instead!

Thanks for posting this thread -- I'm jotting down a number of selections for my next Barnes and Noble trek!

For paranormals, I would also highly recommend Vivi Anna's Nocturnes (she has a couple out already and one coming this fall), as well as anything by Maggie Shayne, Heather Graham Pozzezere (sp?), and Kresley Cole.

How do you do it?  How?  How?

I always admire your lists and reviews, and stand in awe as I usually read only 2-3 books a week.

Thank you for posting these!    Cool

Congratulations on being a freshman now!

My niece just graduated high school, so she's now a freshman all over again.

    ....but a tough one!

I'd have to start with Nocturnes and suspense.  I like having a good action story to carry the romance along.

However, I also love the more traditional lines like Harlequin Romance, HP, and Desire.  And every once in a while, I pick up something from Red Dress Ink.

    I can't pick just one.....

I always enjoy the "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" segment when it comes around -- it's so much fun to have an armchair view of all the different places.  I'm sorry I missed this one, I was out at the market early a.m.!  I'll tune in tomorrow to see where he is then.

Betty, God bless on the walking program.  My DH also has to request the seatbelt extenders, which is enormously distressing for him.  We're trying to eat healthier and get the weight down as well.

    Gulp.....wings?

    ??????????

Thanks for your feedback on RWA, and as a newbie author (read: poverty-stricken), it sounds like I picked the right conference for this year.

I'll hope to be able to attend both some year, though!  And thanks for mentioning the PJ Party at RWA, I'll have to pack something fun!Cool
