- LOL07/09/2008 - 22:14Sadhbh,

Actually, now it's 63 books as I finished one last night, and 2 today while riding in the truck all day. . .

I am exactly the same as I was last year. At the end of June, 2007, I had 94 books read, and that's right where I am this year. Unfortunately, I also had all those books blogged, which I don't have this year.
My personal goal for this year is 250, which I'm not sure I'll make, but if I can even read 201 books this year I'll have exceeded last year.

I started sorting mine a while ago, but as I didn't have a clue what I was doing, or what anyone else did, I didn't get very far.
Now, with everyone's comments I have a better idea of what I want done.
Right now I've got all my TBR's in a bookcase by my bed. Everything I haven't blogged yet is piled up in the order I read them beside my computer, and everything I've read are on shelves in the basement, separated into the different lines, but not alphabetically -- yet. Those are the ones I have to decide what I want to keep and what I will give away. Except my really keeper ones. Those are in a bookcase in my closet. No one but me touches those.
I intend to eventually have two lists. One list will contain my keepers, by line and author aphabetically. The other list will be the ones I am willing to give away, again sorted by line and author.

And me. . .
Though I've been MIA, I have been lurking when I can, and trying to keep up with my reading if nothing else.
Have a great summer, Sadhbh, and Donna too. . .
And everyone, of course!

Happy belated birthday, FF.
We celebrated our 42nd anniversary on Wed. by going to a funeral. Hope your birthday was better than that. . .
Don't feel too guilty about not reading. I've got 40+ books to blog, and here I am -- not blogging them. . .

I like the comment about leaving it on her desk when you leave for vacation. That would work for me. I'd definitely put in the note, though, that I appreciated her thinking of me, but next time I'd better just buy my own as my TBR pile is too big to be borrowing books other people want back. (or words to that effect) Hopefully that would keep things at an even keel at work, and also prevent her giving you any more unsolicited books.
I wouldn't even mention that I didn't read it. But if she actually asked, I'd say something along the lines of it isn't really the type of book that catches my attention. Not really coming right out and saying I didn't read it, but not really saying that I did, either.
I have found -- by experience -- that I no longer loan books out if I actually want them back at some point in time. I will "loan" books out if a person asks if they can borrow one, but only if it's one I don't want back. I have a good friend with whom I regularly trade books, so if someone else wants one I want to keep, I just say sorry, that's not my book to lend. My friend and I have discussed it, and she does the same thing. Though she goes through way more books than I do. She can read almost as fast as Sadhbh. . .

Mine's watching TV right now because I told him I had a poster to make. I give him about 15 minutes, and he'll be here asking if I'm done yet. Or until the next commercial.

They all must wear the same jeans -- er, genes. . .
Thankfully mine isn't sick very often, but when he is. . .
Though I do have to admit that two years ago when I had that reaction to the antibiotic, he was very supportive and helpful. He pretty much had to be, with me writhing on the floor. . .

With Lorie's expert help -- again -- I now have a picture. It isn't the wonderful studio portrait I was hoping I would look like, but it's better than nothing.
Dh has finally decided that he can sit and watch TV for a while without coming to interrupt me. Now that it's time to make supper. . .
It's cold and windy here today, so the only viewing I'm doing is from behind my windows. And all I can see is my back yard full of blowing leaves.
