    Depending on where in a book I am and how steamy it is is why I don't read in public often.  I know no one knows what exactly I am reading but I feel uncomfortable if it is a very hot scene. Even if I do read them in public having to make sure my facial expression doesn't give things away takes away from the enjoyment of that scene.  I may have to read it again in private anyway just to get the full effect for the overall picture of the book. Undecided

    That was great Sadhbh.  I copied this and sent it out to a few people. Laughing

    Reading only 38 books for a whole year doesn't sound bad.  Put that way it makes it very reasonable to reach the goal. But again every book counts and like everyone knows Sadhbh is making up for any low numbers from some of us.  And I always thought I read a lot also.  Smile

    My little something win is nice, and it is so pretty out today that the very short wait at the drive thru was nice.  It would have been nice to win big but as I bet small that wasn't really in the cards.  I do feel bad for the poor horse that came in second.  It was the only lady horse in the Derby and she collapsed at the end of the race.  They put her down right away as she had broken both front ankles. Cry

    P.S.  Her name was Eight Belles.

    {because I started (and finished) a book this weekend that seemed so familiar that I was convinced I'd already read it but the name meant nothing to me (and isn't in any of my 2006 or 2007 lists), so I'm left to wonder if there aren't two books with practically the same plot }

    I've done this as well, although I don't write names down of past books read. Or didn't until I started adding here. It is really a shame when you start a book and find out in a page or two, or less, that you had read the book before.  I've re-read book before though like this especially if I don't remember them that well.  You think you don't remember then when things happen say to yourself, oh yeah.  Smile

    Thanks for the Derby luck wishes.  After sitting in the drive thru to buy my tickets for 3 1/2 hrs + I was hoping to win something nice. I picked 3 horses and then bet a 4 to use up my bill.  Well, all the horses I originally picked did not win but the one that I just sort of winged it and said go ahead won me a little something.  It was the favorite so the odds were great, which means small pay-off usually. A little is something though and it helped sooth a bit about the time it took to get the ticket.

    Angel,  good luck with the backlog entries.  It feels great when you fnally finish and revisiting past books is interesting, especially if you enjoyed them.  You don't need to worry about pulling any weight here.  Anything you post is enough.  Smile

    What a scary thought, to go blind with your TBR pile just sitting there.  And me reading the 'not quite sure about' books first, if I have any, so they don't sit on my floor for a few years (which has happened before).  All the really good books would be left.  YICK!!!!  Cry
