...I think I'm gonna start crying again. I can't bring myself to visit the Rainbow Bridge site just yet, but I'm sure I will. Some of the sentiments you've all shared are proof of the amazing capacity to love--and be loved by--our incredibly sweet four-legged friends.

Lori, you have to be the only mom on this planet who actually wants school to be OUT, LOL!!!!! I keep wishing they'd make our go year 'round since all they seem to be able to do is fight.

If I could just channel some of this emotion into my writing, I might be on to something...

Thanks for your thoughts, and here's hoping the REST of the year will be a great one for all of us!

Sadhbh, I hope Kimi adjusts to Hope's, well, hopefulness with minimal hissing and growling Smile

Someone as kind as you are deserves GOOD things, not bad... I hope whatever's going on shakes itself out for you.

I had hoped no one else ever had to go through a double pet loss in such quick succession... I'm so sorry, Kate. I'm glad you've got a new young family member to share your love with.

We have more kitties in our household, but I keep freaking out that they're all older and that I'll find myself in this spot again entirely too soon (of course ANY time is too soon, but...). I have this feeling a rescue cat (all our furry friends were rescues except for Kokomo) will find her way into our hearts in a few months.

Hugs to you and your new kitten, Kate. I hope he's letting you sleep and not spending the entire night attacking your feet Laughing!

Wayne hasn't been around much lately. He's been pulling 120-hour weeks for a major deployment of an application he developed, but he misses chatting with y'all (as he'd say).

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts. The kids were hoping their schools would get blown away (with no people inside of course), but no such luck, LOL.

Any news from others in the path of all that wicked weather?

That had to take FOREVER to compile, but it's great appreciated.

Thanks so much for all of your support. And FF, I loved the story about Meredith. How sweet!

Wayne's been working 120-hour weeks on a project he finds enormously challenging (programming, not writing), but I think that's helped him with adjusting to Pixel's absence. As for me, I'm finally getting the chance to become seriously involved with the kids' high school band. It will be a great way to help an amazing program as well as my kids, and it'll keep me out of trouble, too Smile.

I guess I'd better post my latest book review. I just wanted to pop over and thank you all again for your incredible support. Hugs to all of you!

It was really hard on Wayne because his "teddy cat" was missing. Pixel used to sleep up by his chest where he could hug her like a teddy bear. When he woke up one of multiple times in the night, he read all of your kind words.

I live somewhere now where I've been able to make few adult friends, especially since my poor vision keeps me from driving. I have to say your outpouring of warmth and compassion has made me feel sooo much less alone. (Ick. That wasn't the best sentence in the world...LOL)

Meg, my longhair calico, has been plastered to my head, stealing my pillow, jumping on my bladder, and purring until she drools all over me. The other cats seriously know someone's missing...

Hugs to you all. Have a fun and safe weekend!

LeanneG, that sounds like the lab I had when I was little. We'd give her leftover stew and she'd lick the bowl perfectly clean except for the carrots, which were left behind squeaky-clean!

We let Pixel go today. (There's a separate blog entry about that.) But you're definitely right about the vet. Our usual vet was off this week, but one of his colleagues took great care of us and saw to it that Pixel's journey was as relaxing as possible. Animals are amazing. I still can't believe Pixel told US when she was ready...
