Once I did the maths, I was able to relax knowing that 38 books was well within reason for our average avid reader. The trick is in getting everyone that IS a registered Community member to read and review their 38 books, that and also growing our membership. I'm hoping our new Facebook page will help draw in some new folks to help us with that.
I recognize that sitting at 24 books, I still have some reading ahead of me, but it also doesn't mean that I"m going to let up any once I hit my target of 38 books. I think I read over 65 books last year, and I'm shooting for a personal record.

Here's a link to the press release and I'll post the logo/image for the 100,000 Book Challenge below, feel free to contact me if you need anything else for blogging purposes. I'm also happy to make myself available for *interview* if you want a quote from me to make your message unique!
I have an article on the Challenge in the Simply Books magazine that accompanies the subscription books, and I have a bookmark planned for future shipments. There's an ad on the inside back cover of RWR magazine, and other venues as well. But as far as I'm concerned nothing works like word of mouth....
Cheers, go forth and spread the news....but, keep reading!!

Ladies, if you are serious about recruiting, email me and I can send you a word document for a flier that you can have printed in color to distribute. Heck if it's reasonable, I'll even pick up the printing costs just to get them out there. It's the same flier that Lorie took to RT and Wayne took with him to Slam Jam and the one that I'll be taking to RWA this year. I'm hitting the campaign trail myself to
strong-armrecruit some readers in San Francisco this July.Jayne

Heck I'm thinking if we get another 2,000 members between now and Christmas, we can all just read 1 book and Sadhbh will do the rest!

Vikki, you've inspired me! Would you mind if we borrowed the Pass the Plot concept and adapted it for our use here on the eHarlequin. boards? I think folks could have a lot of fun with it.

I'm fascinated, but what is a leopard story? What am I missing here?

I do understand the moderators can't see everything and I certainly would be more comfortable if moderation is done off the public space but it is hard to see blatant rants and obscenties and over the top sexual comments permitted and things that verge on harassment.
Hey Merri, the hosties prominently post their email addresses on the boards so that we can all be contacted and made aware if there is something posted in breach of accepted community guidelines and etiquette. I'm also not very far behind if something needs attention. It's quite unusual that something blatant as you've described will go unchecked, we don't allow harassment on the blogs or boards.
Why don't you email me offline and I can take a look.
