Mary~~I'll have to go online and see if I can find it; it would be an interesting article to read. You may be happy that the Phillies are in the playoffs but I'm thrilled that the Tampa Bay Rays are now going on to the finals! For the first time in their history, they have made the playoffs and are no longer the laughingstock of baseball.
By the way, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the location of the Rays, it's in St. Petersburg, not Tampa. The sportscasters keep putting it in Tampa and the residents of St. Pete are upset. However, Tampa and St. Pete are on opposite sides of Tampa Bay and we claim all our major sports teams.

It may be nice and cool where you live but it's in the upper 80's here with a heat index of 94. One day soon we'll go to bed and it'll be so humid and hot that you can't stand it and in the morning, it will all be gone! That should occur next week if past experience holds true and then, it'll be wonderful here while you all are shoveling snow!
As you can see while I waited to blog my four books, I read some more. My TBR shelf is overflowing! And so I'll read, read, read!
Yesterday, I did my final voter registration drive. In a way, I'm sorry to see it over as I met so many interesting people. I also helped felons apply to get their voting rights back which made me feel really good; until a few weeks ago, it wasn't an automatic thing in Florida. I registered some brand-new voters including a woman who has lived in Florida for 30 years! I really enjoyed doing this. On Thursday, I go for Poll Worker training so maybe I'll see some of my registerees at the polls!
Maybe now I'll be around more. Trudy
- 10/01/2008 - 23:26Been really busy lately doing voter registrations and such. My neice and my great-neice were here this weekend too; we had a nice time. I have four books to blog, someday. The Tampa Bay Rays are in the playoffs! First game tomorrow. They went from the bottom of the league last year to the playoffs this year. Go Rays!
I will try to catch up soon; Oct. 6 is the deadline for voter registration in Florida. Trudy
- 09/13/2008 - 22:50What a storm! I hope that everyone who should have evacuated got out safely and those that hunkered down did so safely. I also hope that Ike is the last one for this year! A neighbor who spends the summers in Ireland emailed me and told me that Hanna made it to the shores of the Emerald Isle! Stay safe! Trudy

It seems like most of the country will be involved with Ike at some point. We were very lucky in Florida; in the Tampa Bay area we have had some flooding due to the higher than normal tides from Ike which has waves 15 ft. high just off our coast. I feel for those of you in TX who are going to take the brunt of the storm. I hope that you have your evacuation/hurricane plans in place. I am heartily tired of this hurricane season and the Tampa Bay area didn't even get hit!
Deb, you certainly had a bad day! I used to teach in a high school and it could get scary. I can't remember where Irving is. Do you have to get ready for Ike on top of everything else? Trudy
- 09/10/2008 - 20:22Mary~~thanks for the info!
Fall won't arrive here for another month; it's 82 at 9 p.m. and we are still being influenced by Ike (high surf, coastal flooding).

Does anyone know if the Historical Blaze line is continuing? I read the first book and enjoyed it but I don't remember seeing any others.
Mary~~Just what kind of storm rolled through your area this morning? I heard about it on the news but couldn't find out anything on the WGAL website and the Reading Eagle only talked about Mulhenberg Twp. Also, the tornado that hit Allentown on Sat, what's the story on that? Was it part of Hanna? Nosy Trudy here.

Nada~~I'm glad that you got custody of your granddaughter! And I am so sorry about all the rest of your troubles. I've been associated with those kinds of family messes myself and you have my sympathy and support.
Well, I think most of Florida is going to luck out and avoid Ike, except for the Keys. The Tampa Bay area is expected to get some of the outer bands on Tuesday which will be interesting enough. May luck go with the part of the Gulf coast where Ike finally does make landfall. I hope this is the last hurricane of the season!

Those of you in the path of Gustav please be safe. If you are told to evacuate, please do so. If you need to board up, please do so. Get your supplies ready. This storm is as scary as Katrina was.
Here in Florida, we are experiencing the outer bands of Gustav; remember we are only 90 miles from Cuba at Key West. It's been raining off and on all day. I snuck over to the gas station and filled my tank. If Hannah comes after us, I'm otta here! Of course, I always have hurricane supplies on hand; I even bought a sterno stove this year.
Please be safe and don't try to ride it out if you're in an evacutation area. Trudy
- 08/25/2008 - 13:30I heard that 90% of Florida was heavily impacted by Fay; Tampa Bay is in the other 10% but it still rained a lot. Florida is offically out of a drought now. We are still having T-storms today but at least we get a chance to relearn what the sun looks like! Trudy
