Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes!  Yes, I am very excited.  Since January of this year I've had seven books under contract in two years.  And not a one of them is a "lesser" book in my opinion..ARTHAS, my second hardcover ever, the WoW trilogy which is going to take gaming fiction in directions never seen before, and of course the Star Wars books (Three hardcovers, wow!).  So I'm going to be insanely busy here until 2012. :) 

 

I love the new look of the site as well!  My husband Michael did a great job I think!  I also like my new pic.  Since 2000 I've lost almost 45 lbs.  My wedding ring needs to be resized, it's in danger of falling off!  And I think the picture shows how happy I am with my life right now.  : )

I'm so excited.  SW had a profound affect on me growing up and I've always loved it.  I had a big crush on Luke Skywalker, and to be able to write about him--and his son!--is an amazing thing to me.  

 

I know!  It got swallowed by revisions to two books, an outline for the first book in a new trilogy, and two manga scripts.  Good thing my favorite season is fall....

I'm going to be heading out to California...eeek, tomorrow!  Going to meet with the good folks at Blizzard and we'll put our heads together to hash out some ideas for my new trilogy.  I'm very excited to see people, the new digs, and what's coming up for WoW.  Also will get a chance to see some friends.  Should be great!

Aw, thanks Ame.  Unfortunately I don't think that's going to be any time soon.  However, the Dancers series does seem to have the lives of a cat, so who knows?  Plus, honestly, this year has been so full of (really wonderful!) surprises that I'm still wide open to the unexpected bounty of a positive universe. :)

 

Sorry I haven't been around, but things are really, really busy right now.  ARTHAS is coming along great--I am very happy with the "voice".  For those of you who know the game, the three point of view characters are Arthas (duh!), Jaina and Sylvanas. :)  I think this is what readers have been waiting for and there's lots to sink my teeth into.

 

I've also just signed contracts to do two WoW Manga short stories!  One is humorous, one is dramatic, and I hope to perhaps do a full-length manga next year.  My editors at Tokyopop have been terrific to work with.  I'll let you know when the stories come out.

 

I'm going to be working 6-10 hours a day, every day, through June...and I have two sets of houseguests coming in this month...Eep...Better get back to it.

XD  No, I can't, I'd get in trouble.  And no one wants that. :)  I'll speak as soon as I may, I promise.

The nice thing about this is because it's the character's history, you (hopefully) should be filled in as necessary.  While my knowledge of the world lets me sprinkle in the things fans love, it's not going to be an "insider only" type of tale.  It's humming along quite nicely and I'm really enjoying it. :) 

With luck I should be able to talk about my other top secret project soon.  I can keep secrets like this if I have to but they're much more fun to share!  :D 

 

Well, Starfest was where I was finally able to talk about one of my top secret projects!

And I didn't even know it.

There I was, a guest on a panel about upcoming Pocket Books projects into 2009. I knew about "Beyond the Dark Portal," my collaboration with Aaron Rosenberg due out in July, and had seen the cover. And I had just been told that "Twilight," book 3 in the Dark Templar Saga, had been bumped from September of this year to May of 2009.

But what I wasn't prepared for was the following:

I laughed like a fan girl. For those of you who follow Warcraft, you know that Arthas is THE figure in the game. Moreso than anyone else, this fallen paladin's story has literally shaped the world. And I'm the lucky one who gets to tell his story. I've been writing since the end of March, on a July 1 deadline, and told to keep it hush hush until Pocket or Blizzard officially announced it.
