Hi ya Marian! Congrats again for being a winner, all of Australia and New Zealand have their fingers crossed for you.

RE websites: I just set one up about 6 mths ago, mostly to promote the Diamonds series, I didnt want to let anyone down. And I kind of love it and think Ally Blake (webmistrees and author extraordinaire) did a great job. But to be honest, I hardly ever look at it. I decided not to blog since I have enough problems managing my time anyway and this and the DDU thread on eharlequin, and the Diamonds blog are enough for me at present. In saying that, I can be a bit bah-humbug about promo (hope my ed isn't listening). Now Yvonne has a great site and she's very friendly and easy to talk to so she blogs all the time and gets tons of traffic. Bron has some amazing articles on hers (when I finally figure out what the bejeebers I'm doing, I might write a how-to article, but don't hold your breaths, I'm a slow learner!) and Maxine has a gorgeous site with lots of interesting stuff and some enticing contests.

Now, having described all that, I just feel lazy. Yep, Marian, that's about the size of it. If you, however, are not lazy, you go for it. I bet you'll make truckloads of friends. And let's face it, no one in our day to day lives wants to talk about writing. your family's faces glaze over after the first five minutes. Your friends think you're strange. So yakking with people on-line who love reading and writing takes on new importance.

I do feel sad, however, when I see a site with a blog that hasn't been updated for 6 mths. Of course my latest news page hasn't been updated for about 3 (coming, Ally) but I think if you go to the trouble of setting up a blog then you should spend a few minutes often maintaining it.

Just my (longwinded) 2cents worth. That's another problem for me - I'd end up spending all day blogging and none writing! Sadly blogging doesn't pay much!

    Hi Christa

Glad you've enjoyed the series so far. We count you as one of our most prolific readers. You know books and know Desire - we always appreciate your input.

I don't think it's difficult to do anything now with email. I actually have this theory that if we all lived in the same city, there would have been an enormous amount of coffee days and not necessarily the hard work required. And may I even suggest that if we were in close proximity, there may not have been the whole group dynamic so much as pairing off into little groups. I think it worked so well because we didn't do that, we looked at the thing as a whole .Every email we sent was for the entire group so we had to be sensitive to each other's life problems at times, to each other's preferences and all the issues that six women working together can come up against. I can't say how the others feel but it's my take that it worked so well, over such a long period of time, because we had that separation, we had that group thing going (by group email) and we had the desire to make the whole thing work, not just our special part of it.

I have only worked on one other continuity but that was so different as the editor did the bible so we just followed that. And really, with one exception (Bron) whose book was closely linked to mine, I had very little to do with the other authors.

Wayne, I sure do hope you make it downunder one day (your darn dollar exchange rate is pretty good for you, not so for those of us who get paid in US$!!) Australia is amazing, so many contrasts and landscapes, and NZ is small, easy to get around and has some lovely mountains and lakes - and hardly any people!

You're a star! Marian has gotten in touch, and a very excited lady she is too! We all wish her the very best for the critique by Diana Ventigmiglia.

Further to Maxine's last post, if anyone knows a Marian Stevens, can you give her the heads up that she WON the Diana Ventimiglia critique on our Diamonds Downunder website blog. We're having trouble contacting her and if she doesn't check in soon, we will have to stage a re-draw.

    Cheers

Hey guys, anyone know Marian Stevens? She's a Desire writer (unpubbed) who won our critique from Diana Ventimiglia on the Diamonds Downunder website blog. Only she hasn't checked back in and doesn't know she's won! We're going to have to re-draw if she doesn't get in touch soon, so if anyone knows of her, give her the heads-up!

Back to the deadline cave, hope all is well with everyone.

That last post was directed at you, not Maxine, but I'm sure you figured it out.

Anyway - amyone here want to be a Desire author??????

Head on over to our Diamonds downunder blog and be in with a chance to win a critique from Diana Ventimiglia, Associate Ed of Desire. This is apart from MJ's critique which will be drawn in June. Diana's is drawn this Sunday 27 April and I just know that you guys are up for this! All you have to do is comment on Diana's Q&A before Sunday and stipulate you want to be in the draw - and you're in! Remember how many of us sold thru contests and logline pitches etc? YOUR story just might be the one!!!

Would love to see you there!

I know what you mean about dial-up, just spent a few days with my sil in the Wild North. Honestly I sat at her 'puter for half an hour and in that time looked at four emails, it was torturously slow. Maybe I'll never complain about broadband again. Maybe.

It never rains but it pours in your neck of the woods, doesn't it? Poor doggie. Poor you and ds. I bet that dog had the bestest life imaginable so don't be sad, be happy you gave that to him.

yeah right, like I'll feel better hearing that when my 18 yr old cat goes - or my 12 yr old cat, for that matter. Hugs anyway.
