that have made any military member--man or woman--fearful of complementing anyone of the opposite gender.  It's also people taking advantage of the climate those incidents have created to get revenge on someone they don't like by simply accusing them of having said something inappropriate.  The mentality now is that it's better to keep your genuine compliments to yourself rather than risk losing your career over an EEO complaint.  Sad.

You may find, though, that a friendly smile gets a conversation started where there was reluctance.

BTW, if you don't mind my asking, where do you live that there's not a USO nearby?  I thought they were everywhere.

Got my copy of Out of Uniform this weekend.  DH went TDY yesterday and is gone for the entire week so I can stay up as late as I want reading!  Any guesses as to what's at the top of the TBR? Wink

Let me jump in on a topic that's near & dear to my heartLaughing...most airports have a USO, even if it's only a tiny lounge.  The bigger city airports, of course, tend to have bigger USO's.  Having used many a USO service, I can tell you that the volunteers there are greatly appreciated.  You can check out the USO web page or you should be able to find a listing in your phone book for the office nearest you.

Hmm...sounds a bit like a public service announcementEmbarassed, but I can't say enough about what a good deal the USO is for service members and their families.

Lorie - does a tag have to be used a certain number of times before it makes it onto the list?  I've clicked on the "More Tags" buton but get basically the same list as in the cloud.  Surely there are more out there than that? Not that I need more to read right now as the TBR is a little out of control, but someday I'll be caught up and need something new to readSmile

a "complete" tag list that we can browse through other than just the cloud on the right-hand side of the page?  My thought was that I'd like to look through the tags and see if anything new and interesting catches my attention and see if anyone else is reading the same books/authors I am without having to sift through hundreds of reviews.  While I can do a search for books/authors, I can't search for something new & interesting if I don't know what I'm searching for.  Clear as mud?Laughing

This is my first visit to the bunker--old or new--in a very, very long time.  Now that things have settled down with homeschooling I'm hoping to have more time to jump back online and keep up with all the authors & books I need to read!  Just ordered Out of Uniform & can't wait for it to get here--hope they send it to the right address this timeSurprised
