Having watched a few Discovery Channel specials on the Duggers (the ones with 17+ kids) I have to say that I'm impressed by their organizational skills and the fact that they own everything they have--no credit and no government help. ( I'm sure the Discovery Channel pays them nicely, though.)  And they didn't start out rich, either.  Of course the impact on the Earth is something to consider.  Eighteen kids and many of those will probably do the no birth control thing and this adds up to a lot of impact, because nothing impacts the planet like population, which puts demands on resources.   Oh--all the kids' names start with "J".

I love starting my morning with this thread.

Ellen--Overnighter with 5th graders?  I'd rather spend the night in a haunted house (alone).

Ellen--You pray that the baby comes early! That way you don't feel quilty.  (My daughter came 1 week early and my son came 3 1/2 weeks early--weren't they cooperative kids?)

Hey Caron--I'm in the proposal stage right now, but my next book is out in October--Cop On Loan.  I really like my hero in this one because he's kind of an anti-hero.  Comes from growing up in the 70's--age of the anti-hero.

Hey everyone--our own Writer Ellen is blogging at Cigars today and she would like to hear about....your first timeWink.  It's true.  Stop by if you have a minute and see what's up.

    So many posts...

Caron--Your talk-to-the-editor story is amazing!  Thirty below?  Wow.  That's dedication.  Love your title!

Vieve--I'm glad you'll be popping back in every now and then.

Holly--loved the HQ story.  Thank goodness for people with faith.

Chelle--So scary and I'm so glad you're all right!  My great grandfather was a Sooner.  Now I have an inkling as to why his descendents moved north.

Ellen--Cognrats on the three girls with the adorable names!  Hope they come home soon, and I hope your sister has her baby soon, too. And putting waffles in the oven counts as cooking.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Kay--There is no way that His Perfect Woman rates a 1.  It was probably an error, and you know how once you score and submit, you can't change.

Amy--Kids do tend to go through parental phases, until they eventually figure out which parent is best for what.  Relationship trouble?  Talk to mom.  Car trouble?  Talk to dad.  My son used to call me about car trouble because when he was growing up, I did the simple auto repairs, but he's finally figured out that his dad knows more and I was only doing them because dh worked crazy hours then.

    Ronda--What a lovely Mother's Day plan.  *sigh*Smile  Your dh is a keeper.

Ami--I love the story of Quinn and the streetlights.  That needs to go into a book!

Must go do the day job--(Hope I didn't miss anyone.)

Christyne--Love the cars named Christine.  My best friend in high school had a VW bug named Doug.  We loved to ride around in Doug.

Ronda--Wow...that's a lot to accomplish!  I get attached, too.  I just seem to figure the kids out and really enjoy them and then they go to high school.

Off to walk the dog.  Literally.  She came to school with me today.

Ronda--Good to see you!  Hope you're having a good wind down at the end of the year.  We have 4 1/2 weeks left.  By the way--my kids took it as a given that I'd be published, too.  My daughter told me last year she always considered it a question of "when" rather than "if".  You gotta love confident kids.

Caron--I was just thinking about you today, wondering when your book will be out.  You know I'm a fan.

Tasha--I'm glad the news on your son was as positive as it was.  Hearing loss is rough, but at least they can do something.

Ellen--It is amazing how many times we can hear a message before it means something, lol.  Congratulations on being a May recommended read!Cool

Vieve--Please don't go....who will I ask about wildlife issues?  Check in every now and again, ok?  Good luck with your novel!

Sally Jane--Hugs on the R, but you have the right attitude.  And I so understand running into the forest when you were smacked with the literary writer comment.  I enjoy many literary writers, but somehow when people mention literary works, I always envision something so tied up in minutia that the story is excrutiatingly slow to read.  Must have something to do with high school and college English classes.

I did enjoy my evening so much.  I was the only one who started tearing up at the mike, but oh well.

Opera in a phone booth---that sounds like Susan G.  She has such a way of describing things.  Did I guess right...was that you, Susan?
