Yep Merri - MVA = motor vehicle accident. MBA = motorbike accident. We also say RTC - road traffic crash and RTA, road traffic accident.

Penn I'm with the consensus on pleading the fifth. I know the phrase from watching American television and have probably said it before too as most people I know would know what I meant from tv as well. We have about 70% American content on our television here so we're exposed to a lot of US culture. Probably 20% UK and maybe 10% local content. Not sure of the actual figures but if I had to guess I'd say this was close to the mark.

    LOL Merri.

I'm sorry, it's not funny having your eye taken out but that is such a SURGEON's  way of dealing with a problem. NO problem - I'll just remove it!! Surprised

Common sense medicine - I'm putting that one in my things-to-remember book.

Oh No Linda - floods are never fun. Hope it drys out really quickly. Keep safe and dry.

Love those Flying Doc's books - it's such a quintessential iconic Aussie service. And Marion Lennox - how could you go wrong?

Don't whisper it Nell - shout it from the rooftops!! It's great that you are being published with Little Black Dress and I for one will be haunting the shelves for it.

I've just finished reading my first SEP - yes I'm a little slow. Dream A Little Dream was F.A.B. I'm gonna get me some more of her.

I've also been reading a host of Little Black Dresses. I think our Nell's is out soon, isn't it Nell?

Hey Chloe - great to see you here.

I actually don't think it works in the reverse so much. for a start I wouldn't imagine there'd be too many books set in the US that are first published in Oz/UK. And then there is the saturation of US culture that we get from TV and movies that makes US colloquilaisms more widely known all around the world.

    I think, anyway......... Undecided
