Concerning mythology....

You should introduce your world subtly with character and scene.  Never info dump. 

Use your character's actions and dialogue to introduce something new that you need the reader to know.

In Blood Secrets, in the first page by Caine's thoughts and actions, I let the reader know that this is the city of Necropolis, Caine is a crime scene investigator and his team mates are made up of a lycan and a witch.

Word count.  Is actual computer word count.

Both the RWA and RT conferences are worth every penny.

I love them.  The energy I get from them and the downtime with friends for me is worth the money I spend.

I won't be going to San Fran...but I will definitely be at RT in Orlando and RWA in DC next year.
