Sam...thanks for the well wishes!  My fingers are crossed for you at the Ritas!  What picture did you send them?  Did you post it somewhere for those of us not traveling to San Francisco?

Off for real this time...seriously, I'm going...I swear!

    Ami!

Hey!  I loathe housework!  But it's a chore that never ends...

We're going to Myrtle Beach, SC.  We love it there and DS#1 declares it to be his favorite place on the planet, but he's seven...

The train conference...in NYC?  There is Amtrak from Greeville, SC...about a two hour drive from here.  But so is Hartsfield Airport...and I'm experienced at flying into the Big Apple.  Besides, we southern belles seem to be in the minority on this board, I'd be training it solo!

Really...gotta make myself go finish packing!

Lucy is returning to her Mama and Papa for the trip...let's hope they let us have her back when we return...

Holly...Stacy and Clinton are all over the dark wash trouser jean...day or evening...therefore you are fashion forward!  Yeah, you!  Bummer bout hubby working nights...but you'll get so far ahead in your work that you can really enjoy your time together!

Ellen...I think it's funny you see more of me during the school year, too, but the shameful truth is I don't turn the computer ON most days during the summer...I write long hand where I can with the kiddies, and write scenes in my head where I can't...not terribly productive, but I have a great time with the babes!  I'm one of those people who gets stuff done when there's too much to do...crazy, I know!

Jeannie...only another teacher can truly understand the lure of internet access when a class is busy reading, writing, finishing a test...between classes, first and last thing in the school day...  At least I know I'm missed...that's a good feeling!

Your fashion attitude is most like mine...I like ot look good, and turn the occasional head, but I refuse to suffer for fashion...kitten heels are a wonderful invention!

Tasha...are you still considering Moonlight and Magnolias?  My process starts with characters...then I mess 'em up real good with a complicated plot!  Really it's a back and forth thing for me...I learn more about my characters as I go and tweak the plot appropriately which leads me to discover more things about my characters...

Susan...I do endorse the fashion revolt...even if I'll be doing it from here.   I don't think there will be fines for those deemed underdressed...it's just when a BUNCH of women get together, they all WANT to look at least as fabulous as the person beside them...

Sam...I hear ya on the clothes thing!  I like getting dressed up once in a while, so I'd enjoy the Ritas, but I can't dance in high heels anymore...so I'd wear flip flops and be comfortable to begin with!

Walking shorts/capris/pants are a nightmare for shorter people...I'm 5'8" so my problem is things that are too short!  It's always something!

Kay...enjoy the fasjion show...pack while you're trying things on and you'll get two birds with one stone!

Holly and Susan...you two are hysterical!  On the one hand, maybe Holly is trying to help Susan in what Holly sees as her fashion challenged ways, but on the other hand, maybe Holly really does have an overactive bossy gene that rears its ugly head when one armed sunglasses team with sneakers and purple bags.  Who's to say...  I say be comfortable!  Be proud of who you are, be yourself...even if it means Mom jeans!

ALMOST done packing...down to the odds and ends that require a whole other bag, sigh, I try to keep it light, but 11 days for 4 people...it ain't happening!

See y'all when you get back from Nationals!  By the time I return, most of you will be gone!  Enjoy the trip, learn lots, impart lots of knowledge and dance like nobody's watching!!

Forgot to mention who's going to the beach with me!  You know, for lounging by the pool and such...my TBR stack was enormous, so I sent DS#1 to pick out two books, yes, I'm being optimistic...and he chose Anna Adams MARRIAGE IN JEOPARDY and Kay Stockham HIS SON'S TEACHER!!  Yeah!!

...only 100+ posts to skim...congrats to Carrie on the job...Happy Birthday to Molly...condolences to Vieve...backpacks...one per year, but planning to continue with last year's if we can get a Tennessee T embroidered on it...otherwise, internet shopping to procure the correct backpack...Ellen...sorry for your training...Kim...glad you're on the mend...Holly...all seems well in Hollyworld...I'd choose Batman...loved your superheros...thinking of one hurts my head tonight...Jeannie...glad everything is good with/for Red...LindaC...sorry your summer is screeching to an end...Roz...roofs over spiders?  Really?  Susan...hope you find a job soon...teaching again?   Sam...love your devotion to Supes...Christyne...enjoy the puppy, and you, or someone else who knows, tell me how to keep Lucy from chewing our toes...Welcome to Beth and Jody...Kay...I bought the last copy of HST at Walmart yesterday...Ami...LOL on the picture of your DH's triathalon...Chelle...waving...oh, and all of your conference bound girls are making me green with envy...clothes and conference!  You should all have to wear old clothes OR conference, but not both! <wink>

think that's about all I can remember...

We leave for the beach tomorrow and are swinging through my hometown on the way back...11 day trip...if I finish packing...

...today is DHs birthday...he's 38...I don't mind sharing his age...

I'll never get caught up after that long of a trip, so try to save all the good stuff for when I get back! Yeah, right...

PS...AMY... I loved A Doctor in Her House...really!  I need to send you an email dripping with praise, and I will someday, but for now, know it was AWESOME!

    Goodnight!

Welcome to Jody!!  Are you writing a Super?  This is a wonderful group of ladies and a great way to kill an hour or two!

The snipets are great!  Ami...lol!  Carrie...such characterization in such a small space!

Sam...I hear you on the coffee...now that it's summer vacation, I don't drink coffee but once in a blue moon, but September through May, I'd like an IV, thank you!

Ami...fireworks and vandalism...grrrr, too!  Hope your delinquents do something stupid, but not too stupid, soon...

DS#2 has entered a sleepless phase...he's skippede two naps since Sunday and fought like the dickens to stay awake today, but finally drifted off...  He's sleeping fine at night, but I KNOW he has to be tired...  He's getting so big I can hardly believe it!  Where did the baby go!

DS#1 thinks I should be able to build with K'nex like the pictures on the box...Undecided  I'm struggling with that tall order!

No sun here all week...thunderstorms and cloudy, cloudy skies! Yuck!

SIL and I are planning a girls day out...GOOD shopping is two hours away, so we go have a decadant lunch, shop, have a decadant dinner and come home!  Blows the notion of dieting out the window, but it's fun as all get out!  DS#1 wants to go, but as I've explained, that's not an option...

Beach trip is quickly approaching!  Gotta start making the packing list...clothes I remember, but all the chargers, back up camera cards, cords...those I forget!

    TIme to go ponder dinner...yuck...

The lady of the hour is either so shocked she can't reach the keyboard or she's swarmed with in person well wishers!!

Congrats again Christyne!  Do pop in and let us know all about your big day!!

  • 07/09/2008 - 13:19

    Awww, Sue...

But you are so close!  I know this isn't horse shoes or hand grenades, so being close isn't quite the same, but you'll be there before you know it!  Hang in there!

  • 07/09/2008 - 13:15

    Yup...anyone can play!

Kay...great job!!  You're on my to do list!

  • 07/09/2008 - 13:14

Love the snippet game, y'all!  Ellen, Jeannie...both of you had me smiling!  Sam, such  power in so few words!  Kim, your guy is Nora in pants! Fun!!

    Here's my humble offering...

“It is my job to make sure my students have what they need to be successful.  If that means a home visit, I’m going.”  She slammed the spice drawer for emphasis.

“If you’re gonna be stubborn about it, at least don’t be stupid.  Take someone with you.  I’d rather not hear about you on the evening news.”  His sarcasm aggravated her even further.

“Don’t tell me what to do.  At least I care enough to make an effort.  Your apathy is nauseating.  Obviously, you could care less if your students show up or not.  That’s not only unprofessional, it’s disgusting.”
