- Hi everyone,05/14/2008 - 00:29
Thank-you very much for the town well-wishes and prayers. God knows this town really needs a positive turn around soon.
The latest is that all the employees for the pulpmill Ken worked at, is that there's a chance they may not recieve their last pay cheque tomorrow it sounds like, or if they do, they'll be very late, and sent thru the mail by cheque, when they have always been automatically deposited...noones sure of anything at this point, a lot of maybes.
That's gonna hurt us even more if we don't get Kens paycheque either. The losses keep climbing.
We were told our medical and dental is being cancelled by the end of this month also. But Ken just learned today that our dental may already be cancelled and I have a dentist appointment on the 20th...one is for a filling that fell out. I'm to phone our medical provider before i go, to see if the company has paid their bill and if i have coverage to get my work done or not...so i don't get a surprise bill in the mail. Gosh i sure hope we are still covered by then, so i can get my dental work done.
Since last here i finished The Dark Side, by Cindy Dees.
Not sure what i'm in the mood for next, but am dabbling in the very beginning of You Can't Hide, by Karen Rose.
If it turns out to be the wrong book for my mood, i'll just try something else till it works. A large tbr really is wonderfull, especially at times like this.
Well, i'm five books less than i was the other day. While Ken and I were working outside the other day, our African Grey and Blue Fronted Amazon parrots got into my room and chewed up 5 brand new books. Ug, so as soon as Ken has a secure job again, i'm replacing them...ug...waiting will be ruff, as they were in my stbr pile on my bedside table. They climbed Kens dresser and reached over and grabbed them. Left quite a mess. Grounded birdies.

Well surprise, i'm 75 posts behind here again, and just finished reading them all. This thread is really hopping these days, cause that was only a few weeks worth.
I was actually lurking for about half of them, but couldn't remember what all i'd read, so today I read them all again.
Welcome Dana, and any other new people i may have missed.
Nada, Thanx for sharing the good news about Harry. I hope his spots continue to disappear.
All the stories about kids dressing themselves, brings back cute memories of when my boys did that. And the days where there shoes/boots were on the wrong feet, with toes pointing the opposite way. etc.
Glad to hear you have some relief coming at work Cady.
Had i been here, i could've given you a cyber haircut Donna!
Congrats on doing really well on your exams Tiffany! Yay!
Ellen, Good to see you back here. Sorry to hear you have been dealing with so many illnesses. I hope it turns around soon and you are well again.
Cady, What a great/honest doctor you got, thank goodness. Sorry you didn't check out as a good candidate though.
I saw Enchanted and enjoyed it more than i thought i would as well, though it's not one i would feel the need to watch a 2nd time.
Sandi, Wow, congratulations to Brian and his bowling team for another 1st! Very exciting news indeed.
Lisa, I loved I Got You Babe as well. It's the book/series that made Jane Graves/Jane Sullivan an auto-buy author for me.
I recently finished reading Halfway To The Grave, by Jeaniene Frost, which i loved and look forward to reading book#2 when it comes out.
I'm now readingThe Dark Side Of Night, by Cindy Dees.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!
P.S. It was sunday morning when i started this post, but sunday night when i rushed to finish it so i could get to bed. What can i say, but that my life is so hectic and stressfull these days., i'm doing everything i can not to panic and make myself sick.
Our towns mills have been closing down due to the dollar etc., since the beginning of January, and monday night i got a call at work, from Ken(dh) that the following night they were being told to shut the place down. The company who owns them is bankrupt, and we thought there was a buyer, but they pulled out at the last second. Sounds like none of the men are getting their holiday pay for this year, which Ken has 5 weeks due him, plus the 8000.00 they still haven't payed us from last oct...as well as some medical moneys they still owe us etc., to the tune of over $20,000.00, and that's not counting the major decrease in worth for our homes here.
And we're to say good-bye to that money. The first $8000.00 was hard to do, but i was doing pretty good considering, but oh my stars, the total loss has grown to sooo much more now...and it's becoming very difficult to bare...so i keep blocking it from my thoughts.
The company needs a buyer real soon or we will close for good...so we're to wait and see. Unemployment has been filed...resumes are being printed and sent out...
I have to work in the morning, so i best get to bed.

I had some recipes i was planning on posting, way back when, but i completely forgot this area was here. To bad there wasn't a way to make it more visible. I think then it might get more attention.

Cute video. It almost seems to make the people in SM's upcoming trilogy seem more real some how?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!

Knew i would be a bit behind here, but not as much as i was...wow, 80 some posts.
Hope all who were feeling poorly, feel much better now.
Sandi, I hope Brian does better all round, now that he's not struggling in the acedemic classes. Also sorry to hear Mike was in an accident, but glad to hear he's ok. Sounds like he's had a string of bad luck? I don't recall hearing about previous accidents...hope it's not my memory going.
Nada, Sorry to hear Harry picked up an infection from the hospital. Hope he's feeling better real soon.
Cady, Sorry to hear Luke is biting again. Hopefully your removing his cars works. I know the way things are done now-a-days has changed tremendously...but some of the old ways really did work well, while others were to harsh. I remember when mine were young and went thru the biting stage...i too carefully bit them, but enough to make it hurt, just to show what it felt like...and they never bit again. I think it worked because they were made aware how much it hurts, and possibly they didn't want to be bit again themselves...not sure, just that it worked.
Welcome to all the new people who've found this thread. Hope to see lots more of you.
ElleJay, How'd your mom's open house go? Going based on memory hear, so maybe you haven't had it yet? I forget how far back i saw your post. lol
Ok, my memory has now gone ca-put. Though I did better than i thought i would.
I'm not sure which books i left off mentioning here, but since i was quite far behing here, i'll list several. Megan's Mark, by Lora Leigh(pretty good), The Accidental Werewolf, by Dakota Cassidy(excellent), Enchanting The lady, by Kathryne Kennedy(excellent), and Forbidden Temptation, by Paula Graves(excellent)
So as you can see, i've had quite a run of wonderfull reads...and several before these...so it's been really nice.
I also recently noticed i'm over my reading slump, Yay! it kinda snuck up on me. Likely cause i've been in it for so long...really glad to see the end of it.

I'm at the age now where collecting just means more for me to clean, as well as more clutter...but the one thing i will & do still collect if it's nice & unique/& or cute & it's got some quality in it., is fridge magnets.
So i personally would love to see fridge magnets of some sort, maybe of the different series/books eH sells...but not just of a book...maybe a cute animal of some sort reclining while reading the book...and a different animal for each series would sell more of them. A skunk would be one cute animal to use...I'm sure there's an idea in there somewhere, i can feel it. lol

Mary, While i'm finding SITG interesting, i'm finding it's not moving fast enough for me, so not holding my interest enough...did you find that when you read it?
Sandi, My oldest son Grant, is the one on the course in Kelowna. Michael is my youngest son that is moving back home for a bit. Chad is my middle son who is making me a grama in June
(or sooner), and who is also going to be a 1st time daddy. I can't wait to see him with his son in his arms.
Donna, Hope you have a great time with your dd & dgs. Happy 19th Birthday to your dgs also.
I love DWTS, but didn't know a new season had started. Guess i'll have to start paying more attention to what's on.
TC,
