    Thanks Steph and Margaret,

I think when I started noticing it in my own books, I started looking for it in the other LIS's.  I wonder if I subconsciously noticed it back when I devoured Intimte Moments.  Have a great day all!

I'm reading and loving the LIS's.  It's interesting to watch how authors move the story along.  Because it's a suspense... it has to MOVE.  Because there's a romance, there has to be enough time to lay the romance foundation.  My last book started in October and wrapped before Christmas.  Is two months enough?  The one I'm working on now starts in August and I'm in October and the book's going to end at the beginning of November. About three months.  The suspense needs the fast pace.  How about the romance?  How does everyone ground the romance?  What do readers think?

Oh, I loved the library as a child.  My mom had to get a library card, her first, about the time I hit second grade because there was a limit on the number of books one could check out. If we went with the limit, I had them read within three days and wanted to go back to the library.  Mom got a card and yabba-dabba, now I could check out double.  My first books were the Betsy books.  Anyone remember?  Her little sister was Star.  Betsy must have been a popular name in the 19??'s (Did you really think I'd admit to my age!) because then I found Betsy, Tacy, and Tib (At least I think that was the trio). Like LIttle House on the Prairie, I followed BT&T all the way to the alter.  Anyone remember Meg?  Or Donna Parker? Robin Kane?  I remember that every time I read Nancy Drew I wondered why the author named her best friend George.  My young mind had a hard time understanding that.

Thanks to a three year old named Mikey, prime time television is a thing of the past.  I think the last series I honestly followed on the tube was WINGS, and yes, I had a crush on Tim Daly.  I have no idea who Dr. House is.  What I do do is buy series and watch them while I write.  I keep up, somewhat with CSI and Bones.  It's also how I kept up with Frasier and The Gilmore girls.  Anyone want to talk about Caillou or Little Einsteins LOL

I enjoyed Pierce as Bond, but having watched Bond during my teenage years, Roger Moore is thoroughly cemented as the 'true' James Bond.  LOL  The rest of very good clones.  Ironically, Sean Connery was my least favorite until I saw him in Highlander. Then, I went back and watched him as Bond and thought, "Okay, realistic clone."  There must be a Bond for every generation.  Hmmm, trying to think of any other character who can equal.  Batman is starting to feel that way.

I've pretty much stopped reading the serial killer books.  Usually, if I had one, I picked it up because I like suspense not so much serial killing, and after awhile they started sounding the same.  Give me a good whodunit with a suspense theme!

The editor will want the synopsis and the first three chapters.  Sometimes you'll get revision requests.  Have you been to any conferences?  That's a great place to find out what editors want.

And don't feel intimidated.  We all feel like that.  And, Camy, great advice about reading a 100.  I still read all the LISs.

I'm reading the Christmas one now!  I wish the diner was in my neighborhood.

    Dana,

I feel the same way.  I even took a picture the first time I saw my book on the shelves.  It's reaffirming.
