- What's next!04/25/2008 - 10:44
So here's what's next: We're going to finish the sexy Ramsden Brothers 'trilogy' before we do Jack and Dulci. Right now, get excited about meeting Paine Ramsden and Julia and via Paine, meeting his two older brothers, Peyton the earl and Crispin the absolute rogue who refuses to be a gentleman. Paine's story will be followed by Peyton's story--which I am putting the final touches on for the May 5th deadline with my editor this weekend. Then it looks like the plan is to Crispin's story. After that, Jack and Dulci will be up for their romp, which I've started plotting already. And we'll cross our fingers about getting Grayson and Elena into a full book form where we can explore what happens to Mr. Meanie in those three weeks between chapter 19 and 20, we can expose the lighthouse plot and what really happened to Alejandro. And we can see what really happened on Grayson and Elena's picnic under the tree.
In the meanwhile, keep checking my website www.bronwynnscott.com for updates and I'll be sure to drop in on the historical thread on the harlequin website too.
Thanks so much for your excitement over the story. Everyone and their opinions made it super fun!! You're the best. We'll have to do do this again some time.

- 04/23/2008 - 17:27Yeah, she's a bit frustrating because she just won't come out and confess her feelings. But then again the poor girl doesn't know about the goodness of men. Her folks arranged her marriage, Alejandro the first turned out to be self-focused and a bit of a romantic disappointment and Don Alicante is not a great recommendation as a champion of good men everywhere. So, she's banking on the only thing she can count on and that's herself. But oh, she's tempted to believe in the dream Grayson offers her...She'll come around.
- 04/21/2008 - 10:10Yes, definitely a typo. Grayson' s story should be happening concurrently with Julia's in 1829. Waiting for Grayson's ship to come in is a secondary storyline in Julia's story.
And at one point late in Notorious Rake, the villain, Mortimer Oswalt confronts the family with proof that the Bluehawk did indeed sink off the coast of Spain earlier that spring. And there's a great reunion scene between Grayson and Julia at the end of the book (but no mention of Elena alas--she gets to stay behind at the hotel).
- 04/18/2008 - 11:24When it's too good to be true than it probably is. They've got a moment of hard won happiness against difficult odds. But I promise all heck will break loose at the festival in town Monday. Some body might even get the facer he's been deserving (hint). Have a good weekend everyone. I am heading into the last two weeks of writing on "Peyton's Bride" which is a story linked to Grayson---Peyton is Grayson's Cousin Julia's husband's brother--its really not that convoluted of a connection and there's a short mention of Peyton Ramsden next week in Grayson's story. Do you know what's really hard? Typing with a two year old on your lap! Bye.

I thought it would be too easy if she actually made her confession in time. But the time is shortly at hand when all will be revealed. Unfortunately, it won't be before the weekend. Glad you're back Papaya! Stay with us and see how it ends. We've just got a week left to get them sorted out.

While we're waiting for more Grayson and Elena tomorrow, I thought I'd mention that fellow Harlequin writer, Brenda Novak is set to kick off her annual on line auction to support Diabetes research in May. You can check out her cool items at www.brendanovak.com I have a dedication page up for grabs at the auction and there's other great stuff like lunch with Diana Gabaldon.

Hi,
I'm missing you all! They're going to have celebratory sex tomorrow if that's any incentive! Happy tax day.

As you can see from Anju's comment, there's lots of angles to explore in a longer rendition, like what really happened to Alejandro (he's not alive, I assure you) and more introspection and validation of Elena's ethical dilemma AND more time to make it clear that Grayson indeed has fallen in love with Elena vs. just rectifying a broken marriage. He does reflect on his growing affection for his wife in upcoming chapters, however. There's a great table scene to watch for about mid week!
- 04/10/2008 - 15:30I like that Grayson and Elena are both decent people. He's very honest and she's got a good heart although she's been forced to at least begin doing something a little dishonest (well, OK alot dishonest) but she's thinking about her future reasonably and the future of those who depend on her and using what limited resources she has.

Don Alicante is definitely the villain here. One story line that will be explored in a fuller length story is that he tinkers with the light house light. Although nothing comes of it in terms of plot for this story, I think still left in the section in earlier chapters about how dark it was the night Grayson's ship wrecks and how Grayson wonders if the light house had been lit and of course in a longer story, part of Grayson's memory return will confirm that Don Alicante has long plotted to steal Alejandro's land and did tinker with the lighthouse to wreck some ships, Alejandro's particularly.
As to the deception issue--yep, I wrestled with how far to take the deception on Elena's behalf. But in the end, I wanted her to be a tough heroine and sometimes we've got to make the hard choices in order to save ourselves. She does have a conscience though and later next week there's a scene where she's thoroughly feeling guilty and she starts to think maybe she should tell Grayson (I'm not saying she does tell him....)
Finally, as for more on Mr. Meanie, Don Alicante makes a couple appearances in the story--probably next week and he gets to square off with Grayson/Alejandro.
I have to say I forgot I decided Grayson had to have an introspective moment for chapter 8. I opened up the chapter this morning and thought "Shucks, they're not going to have their "night" until chapter 10. Still, introspection is good so we're on the hooks until Friday.
