Ok, hate to nit-pick this but. . .

Does 1-2 lines mean 1-2 sentences?  Or does it just mean keep it short?

Sorry, but "lines" doesn't mean anything to me.  The example formats to about 5 lines as I have Word set up, so. . . .

Ok -just finished the May Desire release by Olivia Gates - wow!

Olivia - you hit the intensity with page one.  Okaaaayy, I'm going to have to ramp mine way up to get quite a few levels below that (if that makes any sense) -lol

    Thanks for the tips!

Michelle - that is exactly what I want (I see I wasn't clear)  - new authors debuting in the last year or so that are considered 'rising stars' rather than the longstanding best-sellers.

I haven't done the podcasts yet, but I've scoured the guidelines.  I think I might be headed more toward a Desire, but since I haven't read as many of them I want to make sure before continuing.

Since this is a first ms, might be moot - I think it will wind up under the bed - lol!  No sense in wasting any learning ops while I'm struggling with it, though!

If anyone else wants to chime in with their fave new authors from Desire, Presents, or Blaze, I am all ears!

    Hello everyone -

Not sure where to post this, so thought I would start here - please re-direct me as needed.

Is there a way for me to find the currently most popular authors within a line?  I woud like to study up on a few lines and I think it would make most sense to read the most popular authors. I know there are several that might be best-selling over their careers, but I am looking for the freshest current voices.

I am finishing up 1st draft on a ms that I originally targetted at Presents, but now I am not sure it is quite right for that line.  Before I get too far into revisions, I want to re-evaluate.  I plan to take a break and do some heavy reading of Presents and Desire to get a better feel for the differences.  I also have another project in my head that might be steamier - maybe a Blaze or a Spice Brief.  Again, I figure reading the current top authors will give me the best feel for the market.  Any suggestions?

I have to add this personal bit.  We lived in the Dallas area in the 80's.  During that time, there was a newspaper article about ambitious yuppies buying homes in Highland Park and then not being able to afford to furnish them (no curtains, etc).  For some reason, I always pictured them cooking in the fireplace like hobos (no one said they couldn't pay their electric bills) -lol

Anyway, thanks for restoring my illusions about the Dallas elite - it was fun to revist Dallas through your book!

    Hi Emily!

I finished Baby last night and loved it.  I agree with the other poster that the cover pic didn't do Dex justice, but I just remodeled him in my head (sorry)!  I loved his laid back streak and his utter cluelessness about kids.

I can really tell you're a Mom, Izzie was just too real and adorable with all the right quirks - just as 3 dimensional as the other characters.

No spoilers here - but I I loved the twist at the end.  It kept me on my seat thru the whole book and I guessed wrong!

I can't WAIT to read Derek's story now!
