Rae, glad it was a good R. It's so much better when you know they actually read your proposal and spent time on it. It makes the whole R go down much easier! I assume you've moved on to the next project? Or are you tweaking this one?
I can never think of titles. Ever. I just usually title it "H & H" until something lamer hits me. LOL. I envy those for whom it comes easy! Thanks for the explaination of how the series titles work.
Hope everyone is having a Happy Fourth--where ever in the world you are, after all it's Friday!

Deb, good to see you! I got a chuckle out of your nevermind, no baby story.
Sam, my parents just bought kayacks--eh, did I spell that wrong? It looks wrong. Anyway they are in their 60's. My mom almost got dumped by an aggressive pike. It shot out of nowhere, right up at the surface. My kids handle them well, but they only use them in the shallows of the lake. That's scary about the swamp. Glad you guys kept your heads.
No travels here, dh is on call, so we are tethered to our house. It's fine, travel Up North on a holiday weekend is a pain anyway. I-75 is a drag strip on the best of days. Add in bumper-to-bumper traffic with grouchy drivers and it's a cluster-eff. We're going next week. Wonder if gas prices will keep people home? It didn't over Memorial Day.
Well off to do laundry! And read. I just finished Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. Went right out and bought Something Blue. Not sure I like it quite as much as the first one, but I'm still totally hooked. After this I'm starting Stephanie Meyer's series. Okay, I'm rambling. Sorry.

...is currently someone else's nightmare. Not sure what happened, but the front yard is torn up, there were fire trucks, ambulances, utility trucks and dump trucks, and the siding is ripped off part of the second story. And there are rugs thrown over the front porch railings. What a mess! I cannot figure out what happened.
JEannie, I had to laugh at the image of the poor tazed guy and his dog! It's not funny but it sounds very Stephanie Plum. Hope the job went well for your dd!
Ronda good to see you! I saw a license plate to day that said RONDA 1 and I thought of you.
Hugs to Chelle and Maureen on the contest. Hopefully you'll get some worthwhile feedback.

I've got a requested Super partial that's going to go out next week. Another ms, that's targeted for SSE but could be a Super, is in the Maggie contest right now. Depending on how it does will determine where it goes. If that makes sense.
Do you get to name your series? Or is it like the titles where you send it in as one thing then they change it?
I'm hoping for Nationals next year, too. It's drivable for me (but long), or at the very least a short plane ride for the terrifed-of-flying.
Why can't they hold this thing in Chicago?

Holly, you can get it it soft serve? I've always seen it hand dipped. I used to work in an ice cream shop, summers home from college. It was so much fun. Except for the time I accidentally melted a whole (walk-in) cooler full of ice cream.
That didn't go over super well.
I've got 7 kids here right now--six of them boys! And my Molly, who can run with them. Or after them. LOL. They spent the night. The other three belong to a good friend of mine and are close in age to my boys. It went really well. Everyone is still alive so there's something to be said for that.
Ellen, I finished Eat, Pray, Love last night. Eat was my fave part, but I enjoyed the whole book. I'm loaning it to a new friend who's going through a rough time. She's going to read it on the plane to Puerto Rico next week. I'll never get a on a plane probably, but I love that my book will.
Okay! Gotta go grocery shop! I get to go kid free! DH is working 4 10's this summer, so this is his four-day weekend. I even get to go to Pier 1.

Then it's back to work!

Roz, I had to look up "javelina"! What a pretty word. But I must say the pic I found isn't so pretty. We don't have anything interesting like that trotting around here.
Tasha, good to see you back!
Kay, hugs on the sinus/migraine stuff. I get them too and they are a b#$%h. I'm so glad yours is all gone.
Jeannie, very late happy birthday! Hope it was a good one. This is kinda out of left field, but have you ever heard of Rick Bass? He's a former geologist up in the Yaak Valley of Montana who writes the most amazing stuff. I came across his books the other day (still not unpacked!) and wondered if you'd ever read him.
Ellen and Ellen Too, I have a character named Ellen in my current ms. She's my hero's mom. And all my characters name themselves. It'll just kind of pop up and I'm like, Nice to meet you! Now we can write!
Carrie, here's (((hugs))) on the job. You'll find something soon.
I'll add my good vibes to all the others!
Waving at Holly!
Hope I didn't miss to much. i don't know how Ronda does it--she manages to get everyone!
Gotta go pack up my brood and head to the store. Can I say how much I hate candy displays in the checkouts?? And I'm so MEAN I don't say YES.
LOL! Have a great day everyone!

To have a character named for you, Christyne!
Do you look at your name in print often? LOL! That's how I grabbed Carrie's first book--I saw "my" name on the cover. (And I loved the book so I bought the rest because her name is on the cover
)

No Nationals for me this year. I was going to go, but when it came right down to it, I knew I couldn't get on the plane. I am terrified of planes. Of flying. So, dh and I are staying home, since we couldn't take the time to make the drive. We're in the Midwest sooo--it'd be a bit of a haul.

Maybe next year I'll be over it. Anyone else going?

I love that these are "real" stories. As in, they could happen to anyone. I'm such a HEA junkie.
Still, I'm not a fan of sheikhs and princes. Those don't seem likely to me.
But, I agree. Emotion is key. And there is so much packed in a SSE. It's why I read them every month.
