- Great ending and series07/10/2008 - 05:54
Joanne,
really enjoyed reading Thomas and Jenna's story from the beginning when everything was fresh and new for them. In the series now, after 37 years of marriage, 4 children and 2 grandchildren-it's their children that have the romantic adventures. I see them in whole new light now. Especially, Thomas, but then I liked him from the very beginning....
I read Something to Talk About and really enjoyed Robbies' story and looking forward to reading about all the other Prestons.
This series really has me hooked. Great Job!

Jill, just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your online read. I also read both Flashpoint and Flashback--which were even better.
Brooke and Kenzie remind me of Sara in this story. Both are not afraid to take charge and as soon as they get within a few feet of Zach or Aidan, the heat starts.
That's what I love about Blazes. Things heat up very fast but there is also a great story line-in your case an arson mystery and there is alot of comedic relief.
I laughed so hard when Brooke went out on her first EMT call for the "Viagra Man". That was such a hoot!!! How did you ever come up with that?
Can't wait for your XMAS Anthology where we finally get Dustin and Cristina's story. Now there is a girl with real "alpha" tendencies and he is so sweet and kind. Everytime I see Harry Potter now I think of him.
Keep up the great work. I Love your Blazes......
PS...any chance Blake will get a story in the future?

I think he has some great qualities. Jenna must agree too. She didn't sit with him on the bench for very long before she spilled the beans about being broke and having to sell Intuition for a very good price to save herself financially. She must therefore trust him, after all, he did keep the secret about their shared intimacy for over a year.
She also agreed to his crazy proposal to "pretend" to be dating. And, we all know where that one is going. Looking forward to alot of crazy situations and funny inuendos in the coming chapters. I really love how this story is progressing.
I have to confess, I am prejudice to Thomas since he is a Vietnam War vet. My husband was drafted at 19 and served 2 years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and I have a special place in my heart for these guys.
Can't wait for Thursday...

Hi Guys, I haven't posted for a while and I am enjoying the discussion.
I know that everyone was liking Paul because he wants to give back to his people. But did we just forget that Thomas served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam? Remember, Jenna dumped him right before he left and he tried to write to her and she responded cooly.
Jenna and Thomas had a history, just like Paul and Rita. Both women are trying to deny their feelings for these men. Both are brave soldiers and heros.
I think Jenna really hurt Thomas because he has genuine feelings for her. She herself knew immediately that he was at the breakfast table...as she could feel his presence. In her own words, they had undeniable chemistry.
I think as time goes on, we are going to be liking Thomas more and more. I read "A Soldier Comes Home" and along with Chrissie and Ray's story, there is alot of Paul and Rita in the story.
This is not the same Paul we are reading here. This is Paul after serving 2 tours in Iraq-present day. In my mind, he is a totally different person.
I am not saying I did not enjoy the book. But it was not the funny, light hearted read I usually get in a Harlequin Super Romance. It's alot about what family's of soldiers in war go through and really makes you think.
That's one reason why I am willing to give Thomas the benefit of the doutbt.
Have a great one,
Kim

Megan, please keep thinking about a sequel. We know what the future holds for Anne and James but Alex is a blank page. All we know is that he is starting a new job and a new life in Japan.
We have this sexy, clever, funny, charming bad boy that we all already love just waiting for a story to be told.
I also agree that Alex would NOT share his wife with another man--even his beloved James. Maybe, that's why I liked him so much better. He's more honest and open about his feelings and emotions.
There is so much you could do with him. Starting him out having a relationship with men but finding true love and a HEA with a woman would be awesome and provide closure to all us "Alex Addicts" who love the rascal in him!!!
After all, like you said, we still don't know the sex of the person who gave him the Hello Kitty pj's for his birthday.
I'll be the first one in line to buy that book.
Take care,
Kim

I agree with much of what you all have said about James. I liked him alot better at the end of the book than in the beginning.
I really felt for him when they had the argument during the storm after she had found out he was still seeing Alex without telling her. When he said "Do you love him? Would you rather be with him than me?" Anne's reply "I don't think so, James." had to hurt deeply.
But she always knew Alex didn't belong to her. Not the way James did. I also wondered if James really knew that she went to see Alex one last time and broke the rule for them being together . How could he be okay with that after everything that happened to the 3 of them? Megan, was Anne really telling Alex the truth?

Megan, I first thought that Alex started out sleeping with guys to act out against his Dad and as a way out of his dead end life in Sandusky. The last time he told James he slept with a guy in order to get the job in Singapore. I had the feeling he went either way throughout the book. Especially when James told Anne in high school he could get any girl he wanted. Do you see him as being with both men and women in the future? When Anne asked him in the club if he was gay, he did tell her no. In your mind, what's his preference?
What was the significance of Alex being the only person to call James--"Jamie". Were you just trying to emphazise the personal relationship they had since 8th grade? At first, that really bothered me, like they were still in high school. Then later, it just seemed natural. He even had Anne saying it a few times.

He had some of the best and funniest moments in the book. I especially remember him sitting in the kitchen wearing his Hello Kitty pajama bottoms.
The teasing between him and Claire was great. Especially when she told Anne "Dude's got on girl pajama bottoms and looks like sex on a stick."
I loved that line. Gotta love a man with that kind of confidence in himself.
I did not think Anne was selfish either. She had a long journey through the book and I was glad she did find peace and her own HEA. Megan, you did a great job with Alex. I did like him so much better than James. He just seemed to naturally understand what a woman needed.

Thank you so much Megan. You described it beautifully and that was the way that I interpreted it also.
It was ironic that Anne did realize that Alex was the one who made her happy, the one who she yearned for and the one she fell in love with. While James was the one she chose to love because he gave her the so called perfect life. Even her sister Claire saw the chemistry between them. Maybe Alex was too big a gamble for her to take.
I do think in the end Alex came to care for her somewhat. He was the one who chose to leave, but he told her "I didn't count on you" and as she was leaving his hotel room he finally admitted in his own way that he loved her just as he loved Jamie.
It was heartbreaking though as she left his room with tears running down her face to see her go back to James. In my mind I was yelling turn around and tell him you want to go to Tokyo and start your life over again...
Would you ever consider a sequel? Of all your books, this one is definitely my absolute favorite.

Megan, I hated to see the book end I enjoyed it so much. Even after I was finished I thought about the characters for days. I really had 2 questions regarding how you chose to end the story the way you did and how you really saw Alex & James' relationship. Were they really just friends or more?
I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is reading Tempted now, so let me know how deep you are willing to discuss the characters.
thanks,
Kim
