Thanks for all the commiserations, guys.  I haven't heard from my agent how the ms arrived.  But if it had been all squinched up, she probably would've asked for a new copy (I sent that one because I wanted her to have a clean unread copy to send on to NY...who knew the post office would foil my plan, lol).

Thanks for stopping by to clear up the emailing question, Joanne.  And of course you're always welcome here!

Me:(voice getting shrill)  No, really, I don't mind paying the extra six dollars.
Her: (squashing the flat rate envelope open)  No, really, I have (shove) experience (crinkle, push) And I'll just stick that in there and use a lot of tape and...see?  I told you I could get it in there.
Me:(feeling kind of sick) Uh-huh.  Can I have insurance on that, please?

    Hi Shelley,

This is probably way more info than you asked for but here goes:  I always use the Tyvek envelopes that are free at the post office when you mail things priority.  I get two envelopes and address them.  Then I put the manuscript, postcard and the SAE in the other envelope and leave it open.  Once the postal worker weighs the package, I get twice the postage and put one set on the extra envelope, stick it back in the other open one and seal up the whole package.  (You can fold it over enough so that the ms doesn't slide around a lot).  Make sure to ask for tracking, so you'll know exactly when the package is delivered. :o)

Congrats on the new sale, Michelle!

Tracy, huge hugs on the r.  They're always tough-- pubbed or not, first one or fifteenth, form or detailed.  You're absolutely right to believe in your manuscript and some time in the future, you'll be able to see what to change or if you want to make changes at all.

Lis, and everyone else who's been waiting forever, big hugs and a king-size bag of Hershey kisses for you.
