Lots of hugs needed around here right now.

I just want to say how much I appreciate all those who have gotten The Call sticking around and cheering the rest of us on. I can still remember some of you posting before you sold. The advice and encouragement on this site is priceless. It gives me hope that one day I really might sell, if I just stick with it!

    Thanks again!

Fingers still crossed for you, Laura! I know the waiting's hard, but getting that Call will make it all worthwhile.

I think I've finished revising my manuscript. It took re-thinking all the "why's" behind the characters' actions and motivations, and I ended up rewriting about half of the book, but I'm happier with it. I went point by point through Diana's letter and listed the changes I made and why. It's all printed out and sitting on my desk as of yesterday. I'm just giving it a couple of days to settle to see if any other big gaps come to mind. Tearing the story apart and piecing it back together has been a great learning experience, no matter what happens from here.

     Anyone else?

Hugs on those R's ladies, but you've got the right attitude. Onward and upward! Have a few pieces of your favorite chocolate (or whatever you happen to like) and get right back on that horse. You can do it!!

Way to go Star girl! Fingers crossed for good news to come your way. And good for you on getting all those other submissions polished and ready!

Thanks again, everyone, for all the good wishes! I love it here!

Hugs on the computer crash, but so glad you're up and running again!

    I appreciate the good wishes!

Sharon, the editor who signed the letter was Mimi Berchie, but the compliments slip just read, "Thanks, Editorial." I'm assuming the process of assessing the manuscripts has been a joint effort on the part of the editorial staff. But I could be wrong.

This place is so supportive! I've got some ideas kicking around in my head about how to fix the problems, but it'll involve rewriting a huge portion of the book. I'm going to let it settle for a few more days. Don't want to run into the same issues the next time around.

Jennifer, the pitch happened on July 15th. I sent the full around the first week of August, so the turn around was super fast. I live in Brazil, where mail travels at the speed of a slug, so that makes the time frame even more amazing.

I got news back from my Desire full today. It was a rejection letter which said the "premise is quite promising, but there are some plot holes that need to be smoothed out." The editor went on to name the problems and at the end said to "feel free to write your revisions and repitch the completed project." So, while it was a rejection letter, it didn't completely close the door on the manuscript, so I'm pretty happy! Now, if I just had the skill necessary to pull off such major changes...

Well, I did get a letter from Diana today. She detailed some "plot holes that need to be smoothed out." She went on to name the problems she saw with the manuscript. But she did say at the end to "feel free to write your revisions and repitch when you've completed the project." So, while it was a rejection letter, she's evidently willing to revisit the story if I can make the necessary changes. But they're pretty major plot changes, so I'm going to set the letter aside for a couple days, and then decide if I have the skill necessary pull it off. I'm happy, though, to get such detailed feedback!!Smile

It's amazing how an editor can zero in on the weak points of a ms and make you say, "You're absolutely right...why didn't I see that?" Guess that's why they're so great at their jobs!

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's news!!

I'm glad you got some good feedback, and your attitude is spectacular. So great that you have another ms that you're preparing to send out. Fingers crossed that the next one is the ONE!!!
