- I went to the UK and07/14/2008 - 20:54I went to the UK and Australian site and there were so many wonderful titles! I might get better at figuring things out if I keep watching. The Book Depository has quite a few new Medicals too---higher price on books but free shipping to the US. I agree----the shipping on the Mills and Boon UK site is quite good esp. if one adds many items.

No, it is not good enough! I wish the exchange rate was better. The UK site has decent international shipping rates but the British pound makes them expensive. The Australian site has great prices on the books but the shipping charges to the US are quite high. I can't really tell which are the two of the 6 we won't get because the schedule isn't the same but if the exchange rate ever gets better/I figure it out.... I would love it if somehow the Medical blog website would have a page that has release dates and places of titles so we in NA could maybe figure it out. I have been doing some shopping on Mills and Boon so it would be great to have that resource to know what to buy there while they are available.
On a happier note,--the actual books! I just finished Lynne Marshall's new Medical which is wonderful! I just loved the hero she wrote. I may wait to blog it in a day or two until things settle down with my dh's cellulitis (He just went on a very strong antibiotic yesterday after the Keflex did not do clear it up totally). I am so tired --- want to wait until I am less of a zombie to blog it so I can try to capture how wonderful this book is! It hit just the right spot for me. This is my second HMR by her and I feel like I am starting to recognize her style. My next two will be Amy Andrews' and Laura Iding's, both authors whose romance I love.

The August ones won't show up until August here. They are not ahead like every other line. One actually seems to get them earlier by ordering online because the subscriptions are shipped out late in tghe montgh of the issue date so they come the next month after the issue month to subscribers whereas internet orders usually arrive during the month on the spine.
I am still waiting to get my May Medicals. So far they have shipped them to me 3 times and each time someone did not seal or properly tape the box. I just got the 3rd attempt tonight---mangled books for which I paid new prices. SO...now we are on the 4th attempt to deliver May books in decent condition. I wish they were in stores so I could at least get new looking books for new prices the month they are issued. I LOVE these books but this is really frustrating.
- 06/24/2008 - 08:57Are we ever going to get a list of bloggers? Jayne said she was working on it but we are getting near the halfway point of the 2008 Challenge and it would be nice to have something to encourage reading blogs. It's great to add more bloggers to achieve the goal but let's encourge reading blogs, especially of the newer and maybe quieter bloggers too!

I would be very interested in knowing more about NPs and PAs. We have a PA in my family doctor's office and she is very sharp and we had a NP in college who was fantastic. The PA in my doctor's office has her own assistant too. It's in a fairly big city (Lakewood, CO ---Penn knows how big.) Are there any Medicals that have NPs and PAs in them? I would be very curious to know about if other countries have equivalents.
Penn, would be great to get together before you go back if you have time. I need to stay out of the sun because this antibiotic I am on warns of exposure to sunlight. I am not contagious or anything---it's just a very irritating skin infection which is almost better. I am reading a lot but just don't feel like focusing on reviews until the fluttery tummy stops andf I can focus.
I just finished a great Mills & Boon Anthology called 100 Arabian Nights (one I showed you, Penn) with stories by Kim Lawrence, Meredith Webber ( a medical) and Liz Fielding. Not only is every story good but the editor did a great job at story positioning because it starts off with an explosive Present-like story, moves into the depth of a Medical and finishes up with Liz Fielding who brings laughter, romance and a great finale! I wonder if the authors planned it that way because the stories work well separately and together. I hope we get anthologies for Harlequin's 60th like that.

What is the difference between a Nurse Practitioner and a Physician's Assistant?
Congrats on the books everyone and also the graduation.
I have been quiet because I am trying to get my May Medicals. The first box arrived unsealed (books missing and crumpled) and then the same thing happened with the replacement. Still waiting. Plus I am on antibiotics that for the most part are so much better the ones used for my spider bite last year (reactions) but the 12 hour schedule is playing havoc with eating and sleeping. I am not used to eating so late but have to eat and stay up with it.
I did finally write Mills and Boon to see how much exactly it would cost to get a subscription there so I can get all 6 medicals. I really hope it isn't too outrageous with shipping.

I don't know what the issue is with the open boxes. Normally my subscription boxes are the least damaged. I think the boxes were not glued. I also think there are quality control issues attimes where a damaged book is put in a box but my internet orders have improved drastically as they have changed how they pack trades and as they put some paper in the box. The open boxes were never sealed in the first place. I still do not have my May Medicals and June ship out any day. I just think subscribers should get books earlier, not later from the internet orders. We commit to the line...so what is the point if we get them later than just ordering them? The only reason I have ever cancelled any line except one had been because of shipping late issues.
THis does relate...Lorie is a vital part of the Challenge and I feel someone should help her out and communicate and offer to help out as she moves. Likewise, when one box is unsealed, surely the second time too is a lack of communication?

The shopping cart thing has lost many an order from me. What is annoying me right now is that subscribers of the subscription only lines are getting second class treatment...the shipping schedules were changed to put them at the end of the month so now I get my Medicals and Mysteries not during the month they re rleased but the next month AFTER. Subscribers commit in advance to a line but are not given any benefit whatsoever.
I have really had it. The first box of my medicals FINALLY came and the box was opened. 2 books were missing and the other two were crumpled. CS was nice enough to get them reshipped...and the second box arrived arrived last night...UNSEALED again. All 4 books were there but 2 were all bent up, not just the covers but the pages. I know Harlequin is a big company with lots to ship but someone packed that box and did not seal the box, not just once but twice! CS service is great almost all the time but when the second box was shipped, didn't someone pay attention to why it was being reshipped? I have been having much less damage with my internet orders this year, however, since they started using the extra paper packing and packing ther trade paperbacks differently. Amazing difference!
I do wish someone at Harlequin would have have stepped up to the plate and had asked if they could have helped Lorie out. Or any other moderator. People go on vacations, get sick, move, etc. Any moderator needs to take care of life too. I'm sure everyone is overworked with the new HUGE Challenge goals but maybe something as simple as that could help but not cause double duty?
- 06/10/2008 - 20:03It is June 10th and it is high time we get the coupon code, in my opinion. What I don't understand is why someone can't help Lorie out. She is moving and we are told she has to clean her computer. It seems to me it would be the reasonable and thoughtful thing to do if someone at Harlequin made the effort to pitch in and help Lorie out in the interim. This is what people do in workplaces hopefully...even virtual ones. Things in life happen and that's what co-workers do to keep things running smoothly. It doesn't mean a worker is replaceable..no one could replace Lorie and her gifts, but I am sure it would help everyone if someone at Harlequin did step up to the plate in the interim. After all, people do take vacations too but tht should not stop things.
- 06/10/2008 - 19:35I am only halfway through the book today, but I just had to pop in to tell you...page 88, last paragraph --- Awesome! Very cool...so subtle but so wonderful!
