I was just checking in to see if we'd decided on an April challenge yet. We talked about RITAs, but we're always talking about something!

On the Alphabet challenge, you try for titles or authors for eact letter. I think authors is a wee bit easier, though X might be a challenge in itself!

    • A - Donna Alward
    • B - Ally Blake
    • C - Anna Cleary
    • D - Marie Donovan

Actually, we could use the Author index to cheat with ;)

As a reader the Extra tag does confuse me. In the HQ magazine that comes to the house every quarter, Presents Extra was supposed to be newer, younger stories, but then some months it looks like classic Presents, while the new stories are worked into the regular line-up.

I'm sure the editors and marketing have a strategy, and as long as I keep enjoying the stories I guess it doesn't matter much :) There was lots of talk about the differences between what each branch of the line was looking for during the Seduction contest on IHeartPresents. That might clarify a bit. The newer arm of the series doesn't handle the classic Presents themes like the sheiks or the secret babies and such. Those can't go anywhere...readers would revolt!

Let's hope it doesn't turn into a Classic Coke/New Coke thing!

Michelle explained about biscuits rather well...except I prefer them with honey or jam...but my Dad is a big biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast guy. He'll even do grits (think...corn poridge...kinda. I don't like it, so it is hard to explain...)

At RWA I had the best time watching Trish Wylie and Fiona Harper enjoy pancakes and maple syrup. Who knew they were a delicacy? Standard fare here...as are waffles or French toast. I like yogurt, berries, and granola myself.

Guys like protein breakfasts - or heart attack on a plate. Bacon, eggs, sausage, buttered toast...

We also have English muffins...which I think are crumpets to you (help, Michelle! Julie! translate the muffin)

Not sure why I never connected that the big 25 was the big winner...doubly significant :) Hmmm..should we be talking about breakfast? Or am I the only one food obsessed?

I have noticed a string of sales to one line about 8-10 months after one of their contests. Some are from the contest, but I think running a contest is a good sign that a line is looking to gather more authors.

I'd heard HQ Medicals was the 'easiest' if you're a nurse, and that the newer the line the easier to get in, and Steeple Hill is always looking for authors, and...there's always a new rumor :) Most of the time the editors hear the latest news here on the boards. ;)

The last few contests I can recall are Blaze -> Supers -> American -> Presents...but those are the big ones. I think Desire and Intrigue did the log line/eHQ board only contests recently.

And here's a brand new one from Nocturne ::

Nic - let's commit to DC right now...you can drag Ally along...though she is so enthralled with her baby she might decide to have another right quick! I wanted to do San Francisco...but even though it is the closest one to me for years, babygirl will be so small.

Robyn Grady can likely answer that best as she writes for both lines. I find Presents and Desire more alike in tone, while topic and location vary. Modern Extra's should feel younger than either line, with characters striving to reach the acheivement level of those in the afore mentioned lines, instead of reveling in their success. We go for light, fun and flirty (well except for when some of the ladies insist on making me sob through the story, but they hear about that later) which are tags neither Presents or Desire strive for.

Hmmm...not sure if that is clear. Help? I was just popping in to give kudos to our superstar Kate Embarassed

Medicals could be fun. As long as they didn't get too cluttered up with characters that don't stay with the series.

Jamie Denton did an obstetrician once, long time ago. It's the only doctor that came to mind...we've seen nurses and there was one with the sleep research study...Oh! Highland Fling had a doctor, but that was a time travel so it wasn't very medically focused on that. I think I remembre Jo Leigh writing a doctor, not sure which one that was, though

So, as far as age goes, I'm sure that isn't an issue. Hmmm. Someone should do one, like Sex and the Supper Club, but with hospital players.
