My net goes down and then my computer - I miss a couple of days getting on here and wham! There were over a 100 messages! And a new room! Laughing Took me a bit to read it all...

Just a comment in general because I'm a bit behind - glad to hear there weren't any R's during that time - that people are still waiting! As someone in the comments pointed out - waiting isn't bad - it means there's still hope. And I love that! Laughing Still waiting on my revision response, and still working on an entry for the Presents contest. I like my first chapter but I don't have the book finished and this has definitely been one of those books where everytime I think I know where things are going to go...I'm blindsided and told by my characters that I have it all wrong. Smile So I don't dare send it in yet. We'll see if I can get it ironed out before the contest entry has to be in. Might just enter it the normal route.

    Happy writing/waiting to everyone!

I was just sitting here, sipping some freshly made coffee and thinking how nice a nap would feel!!! Spent the day with Kindergardners helping out - I love doing it but man...I'm whipped! Have to hand it to the Teachers who can do it day after day. =D Tonight is our homecoming and both of my older boys have football practices and I'm helping out at the concession stand -so no time for a nap - oh well. =D

For my writing I got some notes written on one story this morning and some editing on another. Not as much as I'd have liked but... its something!

Some big goals here! Congrats to all who are meeting theirs already. Mine is just to find time each day to write. =D

Okay, my break is done - have a great weekend everyone!

Michelle S - Let me just say you totally blew me away when you said you had one kid off to college! I looked at your picture and looked...never would have guessed you would be old enough to have kids off to college! Smile

Jax - You are so right on protecting the time - I'm getting more assertive on that end...it was easier actually when my youngest was still home...everyone assumed I was too busy to 'help' out on things. Now they think otherwise. Cool

Cyber bonfires - I know of some people that do in fact get rid of their R's but I treasure them. Smile Suppose that sounds weird but it took a lot of guts to even submit, to admit I write romance and I'm proud of it! And too, I've learned a lot over the years and now know that my very first R, which was from Harlequin for the Presents line, wasn't just a form R - it was detailed and though they didn't want that story back they asked me submit again. I saw only the R. Now I look back and am glad really that I didn't 'see' things the right way as I had a lot to learn(probably still do Laughing ) but still to go back and look at that letter and realize how really cool it is to have gotten a detailed letter the first time out the door... priceless. At least to me. And that's the key for all this, finding the right method of writing, working, keeping or not rejections, ect... that works for us. Cool

Marianne - I love all the advice already given on whether to finish a ms but I wanted to add something --- for me personally, every story I've written, when I finished(the entire book) and began to edit...the beginnings have all ended up getting totally redone. I mean totally. Different pov's, different scene ect... I'd learned so much about my characters that I found the beginning which I'd 'thought' was perfect and already edited ect.. could be improved a hundred percent.  when I write I always think my beginnings are awesome. Cool I tend to fine tune them as I write the rest of the story and thus they are in fact all edited. BUT as I said above...once I'm done and really look at things, there isn't a story beginning that I've written that hasn't been redone. Its just how I work it seems. Just a thought.

Okay, I'm off to write! and turn off the phones and net...well, except for the number of the schools in case of an emergency but you get what I mean. Cool Have fun writing everyone!

Donna, I'm treasuring your post...holding it close and thinking...maybe just maybe. Smile

Michelle - I love your set up for a writing work day!!!

NB - Less than 24 hrs to know its there sounds great! good luck!

Donna - I can soooooooo sympathize with you on at least part of that! My kids started school in mid-August and this year my youngest started kindergarten. I thought I'd be writing full time...you know doing the dream thing of writing as a day job with breaks to do laundry and start supper and things like that. I started sleeping in later(til 5) and was so darn tooten excited!

I've had 2 days where I honestly felt I got to do the above. That's out of a month and a half! So very tempted to unplug phones and wear a billboard sign that says - NO    Whatever it is, NO. Wink  And now I 'might' be going to a day job outside the home. =P We'll see. the 'plan' had always been that I'd go back to work full time once all the kids were in school and that would be now. I've been hoping that writing would be that job. That hasn't panned out yet and a job opening came open at the school that would allow me to keep the same hours as the kids...I couldn't NOT apply. But at the same time.... Well, what is meant to be will be. sigh... Anyhow, I've just decided I have to drag myself out of bed early again.  People aren't letting me write during the day like I'd planned anyhow. Cool  And like you if I don't get writing in I get crabby. Been a bit too crabby lately. Wink

Dee, I'm so sorry to hear about your R! Cry

NB - LOL You cracked me up -- I was reading your questions thinking...um, its in her sig line and how do I tell her that without sounding like I'm picking on you??? And then you said that in the very next comment. Laughing

On Early Morning Writing - LOL you guys are so sweet but really its not that big of deal. If you stayed up til 1 AM and got up at 6 to go to work it'd be absolutely no different. And that's what many people do. I just found I think better after a few hours of sleep Laughing and I'm still in dream land so to speak when I get up. Whereas in the evening I have this list 10 feet long of things going through my mind that are not story related. Smile

What really impresses me are the people I 'think' are writing all day! To be so dedicated, so focused, so full of a story they can sit and write for 4, 5 or even 8 hours! Correct me if I'm wrong but Michelle W and Donna, don't you guys write during the day?(I know you still have the mom job but I mean in essence don't you guys write during the day 'all' day like a day job? Smile )

Steph - is your shoulder getting better?

Cari  - good luck on your revision!

    Have a good one!
