#123 – A Proper Wife by Sandra Marton (HP #1860, Jan 1997)

book cover"Ryan Kincaid doesn't like being told what to do. When his grandfather pressures him to marry and introduces him to a suitable bride, Ryan is furious. Devon Franklin is the most argumentative, grasping female he's ever met! So what if she's gorgeous and he can't stop thinking about her?

Devon is perfectly capable of running her own life. She doesn't need a husband and certainly not one like Ryan-disgustingly rich, dangerously handsome, infuriatingly smug...! Who cares if his kisses turn her knees to jelly?

Perhaps the solution is a whirlwind wedding...and an equally quick divorce?"

Another good book from Sandra Marton.  I loved the heroine, Devon - for all her youth and naiveté, she could hold her own.  The opening first pages where the hero sees the heroine for the first time just grabbed my interest and never let go.

Aw, you make this one sound

Aw, you make this one sound nice.  I'll have a look around for a copy.  :)

Hi Janet!

I wrote this late last night - I wanted to be sure to meet my TBR commitment for June, since June ends at 9 pm today for me.  I'm going to be out most of the day.

I probably should have written more about the book cuz it was really quite good.  A bit dated in men's views of women - but still I enjoyed it.  The grandfather is a hoot and ties the hero (this strong, independent, confirmed batchelor!) in knots.  It was funny - he became so exasperated with him, but still did what he wanted because he loved him.  It was nice.
