156. Trish Wylie ~ Project: Parenthood ~ HR #3922 (Nov 06)

After I had read my first Trish Wylie book ~ The Firefighter's Chosen Bride ~ I was hooked on her writing, and every book that I've read since has taken me deeper into fandom.  Wow!  Ms. Wylie writes with such heart and emotion that it comes through loud and clear, and her stories always, ALWAYS end up leaving you feel as though you've conquered the world... or at least been along for the ride as the couples in her books conquer their fears and experiences that hold them back.  Marvelous story-telling that, while getting right down to the heart of love and inciting emotional responses, always leaves you feeling not only as though you've learned something about the people, but often about yourself.
I can't say enough wonderful things about any of Trish's stories and if you're someone that appreciates love triumphing over fear and loneliness, give any of her books a try ~ you'll see what I mean!

RATING:
Excellence: Excellent to OUTSTANDING ~ 4.5 stars

FROM the BACK:
She hid from love, but it found her anyway . . .

Tegan Delaney has made sure that she's too busy for love...too busy to get hurt!  But when she has to become stand-in mom to her sister's tiny kids and elnists the help of her gorgeous neighbor, Brendan McNamara, the rules Teagan has lived by begin to crumble....
Brendan has already proved with ease that he's perfect father material, and, as his newfound family quickly nestles its way into his heart, he has to show Teagan that they can be the perfect family, too.

Further Notes:
When I first started this story a few weeks ago I didn't get very far in... it was partly the fact that Teagan was extremely stubborn about not needing help from Brendan that I was a little annoyed, but honestly? it was a lot more than that.  I could already feel the emotions battling against Teagan's walls; I got such a strong sense of her desperation to hold herself back from Brendan that I just knew that this story was going to take a little more emotional energy than I had a few weeks ago.  Wow... intense?  You better believe it, but it was such a wonderful and amazingly touching journey that to ignore it was impossible.
There are a couple of points that I thought should be made a little clearer; points that didn't come through from the blurb on the back.  Namely that Teagan and Brendan had a history going back nine years before when she ran, fast and far, knowing that he was the one that could destroy the walls she needed to keep herself from being hurt.  The end of the story had me in tears, of course... but I get can emotional about just about anything...and a Trish Wylie story is a given for me.  But oh, the endings always, always make it so very worth while!

This was the first one I worked on with my current editor and it was so much fun. My first ever baby cover too lol. And it even got its wee self an award nomination for the HOLT Medallion last year. One of my favs in it was Brendan's mother... can't tell you the number of mothers I know like that over here...

And I cried writing the end... one of my fav endings EVER.

Thanks for finding it hun! MWAH!

Trish, and there's one close by me that has an extensive selection of pre-owned Harlequin and Silhouette titles.  For my romances, if I can't find them new, that's my favourite place that I go to.  And ever since I read The Firefighter's Chosen Bride, I've been on a search for you older books.... Love, Love, LOVE them!

And just having noticed the award note at the bottom of your message I have to tell you that I'm reading at present that very book ~ Rescued:  Mother-to-Be ~ I can hardly WAIT to see how Eamonn and Colleen's story works out.  I'm just a little way in so far, but it promises to be another winner, IMHO.
