183. Angela Knight ~ Mercenaries ~ Berkley Sensation [TPB Anthology]

I got this book because it was one of Angela Knight's that I hadn't read before... was I ever in for a treat!  Whichever way you look at it, this is vintage Angela Knight taken to a outer space and some very erotic encounters ~ all tamed by sizzling romances~ and I love it!  She writes extremely sexy and H-O-T!! heroes and feisty, sexy and strong heroines that are more than a match for the men.  The action is top-notch... and the sex?... WHEW!  Air conditioning would be a bonus when reading this... I had to make do with an electric fan.  Undecided  Wink  Laughing
Once again, Angela Knight creates characters that take on a life of their own... and if she ever decides to do a look back at Trinity and Nathan, Zaria and Sebastian and Cassidy and Rune, I'll be in line as quick as I can!  Fun, sexy and a great read.  VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

RATING:
Excellence: Excllent ~ 4.0 stars
Steaminess: Heat Wave

BOOK READ:
Angela Knight; Mercenaries; Berkley Sensation; 2005

FROM the BACK:
Trinity Yeager would rather die than be auctioned off as a bride to the freaks on Rature's Colony.  There is an alternative:  Join Nathan August's star-hopping team of mercenary soldiers.  The captain has one condition ~ that Trinity prove her resilience as the one-night plaything for him and his first officer, Sebastian Cole.  Trinity not only sees Nathan's bet.  She raises it...  (from Trinity)
From galactic dens of depravity to far-reaching planets of dominant females and strapping male slaves to the violent shadows of an unknown off-world, Trinity joins forces with Nathan and Sebastian to risk flesh and blood, and to push the boundaries of erotic adventure in order to protect, honor, and serve ~ in the name of duty.

MY NOTES:
Normally I skip this section because I ususally say so much at the beginning of my review (I have what my dad used to call verbal diarrhea.. pleasant, no?), but the blurb on the back of the book doesn't go far enough, yet in other ways goes too far.  Make sense?  Maybe not yet... but hopefully it will!  Wink

In this book there are three connected stories.  The first two, Trinity and The Thrall were originally released released in ebook format and, as Angela Knight says in her introduction she "...felt free to let (her) imagination run wild, pushing the envelope in every way that (she) could."
Then when this anthology was put together, the first story Trinity was expanded from the original ebook.  The third story ~ Claiming Cassidy ~ was created especially for this anthology.
The H's in the first two stories and the h in the third story are all members of the crew of Nathan August's ship Starrunner.   In each story it is the female lead that is the main focus, but each has her own fated mate... and these warriors are all H-O-T!  Of course their stories are exceptionally STEAMY ~ after all, Angela Knight does both very, very well indeed!
Anyway, back to the blurb:  The first part of it is for Triniity's story.  The second story ~ The Thrall ~ is barely outlined in this sentence:  "... to far-reaching planets of dominant females and strapping male slaves..."  while the third story ~ Claiming Cassidy ~ is summed up by "... to the violent shadows of an unknown off-world."

I thought...

you would like this one!  Have you read her new book, WARRIORS?  It's a sequel of sorts to JANE'S WARLORD.

I love Angela Knight!

I love Angela Knight!  *grin*

Followup to Jane's Warlord?

. . . YuMmY!

Wow Debbie, another book to look out for... good thing my b'day's coming up; I can always ask for reading material!  Innocent  I loved Jane's Warlord a lot... more than I expected to after I had read her Avalon series.  Sci-fi / outer space stories have never been among my favourite genre, but I've discovered that a LOT depends on the author... of course!

  Janet... You, too eh?
Is it the sexy, hunky heroes? Kiss The steamy romance?  OH, I know... both and more, right?  Wink

Oh yes....

Here's a link to where I blogged it: http://community.eharlequin.com/content/warrior-angela-knight

Did you read the one called WARLORD?  It had JANE'S WARLORD in there plus several other stories that were set in the same world although not connected.

About what it is that DRAWS

About what it is that DRAWS me to Angela Knight...  I think it's her UNIVERSE that she's created.  I just love her heroes, heroines, their powers, the role of sex/passion, the destined mates, the balance between action/romance (with the action always being tied in some way to the romance/passion of the H/h), the happily ever eternally afters, the way everything is wrapped up, the gentle lead-ins to the next book in her series, the fact that it works so well as a stand alone and can be read out of order, the fact that it's a satisfying read no matter what came before or after in the book series....

SO MANY THINGS which make me like the Angela Knight magiverse series more than the Nina Bangs series or the Sherrilyn Kenyon series.  (Though granted, I've only read one SK book so far and skimmed through another two SKs)

Jane's Warlord...

Debbie, I actually read the single title of Jane's Warlord, not the Warlord combo.  Looks like I'm missing something!  Undecided   I was sure that I had read something else connected with the world, but obviously not... *sigh*  Maybe it was a preview for Warriors?
Guess what I'm going to look for, eh?  Great review by the way... I did check it out.

Janet, wow you expressed it so very well... I'm jealous!  But I agree completely!  And it doesn't seem to matter what world / society she writes about, they all work.  I found her via an anthology... gotta love Anthologies!
