190. MaryJanice Davidson ~ Undead and Unappreciated (#3)

This book was my introduction to the "Undead" (aka Queen Betsy) series, so of course it will always hold a place of fondness in my heart.... and I must admit that when reading this book, for the first time, I really didn't have a lot of trouble following along with the storyline.  So I'm saying that as for reading the books in order, not totally necessary.  But I'm tellin' you that going with the series step-by-step really adds to the whole thing.  There's definitely a lot of detail that just can't carry over from one book to the next ~ and with MJD's Queen Betsy, the more info the better... the laughter!
But yet again, there is a certain grim element growing ~ slow as it may be; there's a very definite sense that we've only uncovered the tip of the iceberg ~ and working my way through to the bottom is fascinating... and F-U-N!  Again...VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

RATING:
Excellence: Excellent ~ 4.0 stars
Steaminess: Sensual to Yummy

BOOK READ:
MaryJanice Davidson; Undead and Unappreciated; Berkley Sensation; July 2005
3rd in the Queen Betsy series

FROM the BACK:
"WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT A VAMPIRE
WHOSE LOYALTY CAN BE BOUGHT BY DESIGNER
                         SHOES?  CAN WE SAY, OUTRAGEOUS?"

At least Betsy Taylor's priorities are clear.  While most women would love to live as royalty, Betsy has found that being vampire queen has more problems than perks, except for always being awake at Midnight Madness sales.  And the employees at her nightclub Scratch have been giving her nothing but grief since she killed their former boss.  Some people...
But Betsy's "life" takes an interesting turn at a shower for her wicked stepmother, who lets it slip that Betsy has a long-lost half-sister.  Now twenty years old, this woman just happens to be the devil's daughter ~ and destined to rule the world...

MY NOTES:
Okay I have to say this... really, it's quite annoying!  From the back of the book it appears that Betsy learns of her half-sister from her stepmother (aka the Ant), but in reality it was Betsy's father who let slip that the baby being expected ~ Queen Betsy's half-sibling-to-be ~ is actually the Ant's second child.  Any wonder that the whole crew descended upon her to glean the details?  A lot of laugh-out-loud scenes ensue... and the prologue at the beginning begin to makes more sense ~ at least that's the way it worked for me!
And all I can say is that reading MJD's various
Acknowledgements and Author notes, is fast becoming a big part of each story.  I adore her sense of humour ~ s'all I'm sayin'!
