Broken Lullaby by Pamela Tracy is a Love Inspired Suspense book, and I believe it's part of a series, though it's not listed as one. The other book I read about this area involves some of the same family members, so I'm assuming it's a series.
Mary had gone into hiding. She had grown up in a mob family, married into the mob, but she was very disillusioned by it all, so had run away to keep her son from facing the same horrors she had grown up with. But now most of her family was dead. Her dad, her husband. . . so was it safe to come home?
She got home to discover she had inherited property that she wasn't sure what to do with. Then she discovered a sick woman hiding on this property. A woman who's baby had been kidnapped. But what would anyone want with a penniless woman's newborn baby? Whoa, then she learned of another kidnapping. Could her ties to the mob help solve these crimes?
Mitch was on leave after having shot a man -- in the line of duty. He certainly didn't need to get involved in Mary's problems. Or did he? Would anyone else have her best interests at heart?
This book had an amazing ending. It took me completely by surprise.
