My Opinion: An interesting read. I found it rather sad, the man Caleb McClain lost his wife and the mother of his son Danny. Claire Santaniello shredding her habit, starting a new life after 22 years as a Dominican Sister. Her mother suffering from acute leukemia. Claire ever the optimist thinks she can help Caleb and his son Danny rejoin the human race.

My Summary: Caleb McClain is a police detective and today he just doesn’t want to go home to his house, and his son, it holds too many memories. His wife was killed a year ago this day when two rival gangs started shooting. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Caleb has locked away all his emotions it’s the only way to survive. He’s even distanced himself from his 8-year old son Danny. Caleb was in a bar/restaurant when he spied a woman being hit upon, and she was trying to get away. Caleb approached, and realized that he knew the woman at least had known her. She used to be his babysitter, Claire Santaniello, he had a giant crush on her. It was Claire but what’s she doing in a place like this, last time he heard she was a Dominican Sister. Caleb and Claire sat down and chatted, Claire wondered what had happened to Caleb he used to be such a talkative, happy boy. She told him that she was starting a teaching job and it turned out to be the same school that his son Danny went to. Claire met Danny when he was being bullied by some boys in grade 4. Claire offered to drive Danny home, helped him cook dinner, chicken a la king, it used to be Caleb’s favourite food. Caleb arrived home and discovered Claire’s car, what’s she doing her, is Danny alright. When he walked in, Claire and Danny were in the kitchen, the next door neighbour who usually stayed with Danny until Caleb got home was gone. Claire tries to get Caleb to talk, but he doesn’t. He hurts too much, Danny is suffering because of it, Claire knows what she has to do. This is her calling right now.
