#51: Family in His Heart by Gail Gaymer Martin, LI Jan 2008

Score: 3.5

Rona is on the run from her family and feels a great burden/shame about her past.  She lands a temporary job as a waitress in a wharf-front cafe, and meets Nick, who is immediately attracted to her.  He wants her to come live on his island with him and his teenaged son, Gary, as their housekeeper.

This romance seemed bogged down a little by the frequent changes of attitude of the hero and heroine.. they know they are attracted.. they aren't allowed to be attracted... it makes them seem like they blow a little hot and cold.. and Nick, in particular, seems eager to pursue Rona romantically from the very first, which feels like a conflict of interest to me for him to then try to hire her as his housekeeper.  What was he thinking?

Overall, a good inspirational message about how God is faithful to us even though most all Christians go through difficult times where they question God is really there and cares about them.
