#59 Killing Fear by Allison Brennan, Ballantine, 2008

An earthquake in San Francisco damaged San Quentin.

Eight convicted felons including death row inmate Theodore Glenn escaped.  Glenn killed an injured guard on the way out.  Seven years earlier he was convicted of murdering and torturing four strippers that worked at RJ’s a San Diego strip club.  He was convicted on the evidence found at the last murder victim, Anna Clark.  The only difference was he dated the others and had not dated Anna.

The main witness against him was Robin McKenna, one of the strippers who would not go out with him. She was working her way thru college and didn’t date the customers and something about him was just wrong.  The lead detective was Will Hooper who had an affair with Robin at the time.

Theodore Glenn was rich, good looking and charismatic. He also was conscienceless – he felt no remorse at all.  He threatened to get even with those that convicted him and laid a path of blood all the way to San Diego.  He contacted a local reporter and claimed he killed Bethany, Brandi and Julie but did not kill Anna Clark who was Robin’s roommate at the time.

As he is slashing his way thru San Diego, Will Hooper along with FBI Profiler Hans Vigo team up to pursue Glenn. I found this quite compelling and didn’t want to put it down.  Will had to learn to trust Robin again and Robin had to let him back into her life.  Lots of trust issues.

Thanks Katherine

I am so proud of her accomplishments.

The book was really good.  It is the beginning of her new trilogy and ties in with the past books.  Will Hooper is Carina Kinkaid's partner in San Diego.

I haven't tried this author yet but keep meaning to.  Sounds great!

I've enjoyed her books too!

I like how her books stand alone, but she always has connections with previous characters.

Hi

Deb you really should try her .... she writes a tight story.

Ellejay - It's true... each is standalone but connected to others and others in different trilogies also.  I really enjoy her writing.
