BOOK DESCRIPTION (from the cover of the review copy):
Val Shapiro's not your ordinary part-demon teenager who fights vampires on the streets of San Antonio. She's got a wicked sense of humor, too.
"I've been told my eyes flash a harsh purple, like the color of a black light, when the succubus within me—I call her Lola—comes out to play. From the look on his face, my eyes had done just that. "What are you?" he demanded.
"My mouth quirked into a smile. "Just a girl looking to do some community service by cleaning up the city."
Welcome to Val's lonely, dangerous world. She's on her own except for a cute telepathic hellhound named Fang and a big, hunky police detective named Dan Sullivan. When a gang of vampires start murdering people, Val, Fang and Dan are the city's only hope.
COMMENTS:
When I first started reading this, I thought it was going to be like Jenna Black's Morgan Kingsley series or Tate Halloway's Garnet Lacey series. Something about the way Val described "Lola" as she calls her demon self. Though in this case, the demon is part of her, not possessing her. But instead, it turned out to be a unique (from my reading experience), interesting, and enjoyable read. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next Demon Underground book.
