I really enjoyed the strength I read in this book, it was an emotionally powerful book, moments of tears and laughter. Now it's just up to me to describe it :S
Rebecca Reed whom lost her husband, falls into a life of pain, hiding herself behind bitter words, and harsh reality. She takes over where her husband left off, with the cabin, training and racing the dogs, taking people on sled tours, selling dog food, doing the work of two people herself without complaining. But, when one day a strange truck comes up her drive she knows it's someone to buy food. Mac Mackenzie is taking over hid brothers dog sled team and racing them while his brothers away. Mac shows up on Rebecca's door step to buy some dog food for his dogs, only to hear her gruffly say, he has to pay at pick up, she doesn't let people have tabs, only her husband did that. While Mac agrees to her fees, and tries to leave with the dog food, his truck breaks down, and he's forced to ask Rebecca for help. When he gets pinned under his truck, he's forced to be taken in by Rebecca, which isn't a problem for him, it just sets Rebecca off in an even worse mood. Although Rebecca is attracted to Mac she thinks it would be disloyal to her husbands memory. When the time finally comes to train the dogs the two take the track most of the way together. Hitting a rest stop they come across a pilot in a friends cabin, who Mac believed had a heart attack. Knowing nothing about hearts, but more about plains ( being from the navy and flying planes before) Mac fly's the pilot to the nearest hospital. After then finding his way back, and back on the trail, the superman of the story then finds out that Rebecca has been flown off the track into a deep deep ditch. Rebecca with a broken arm and a concussion struggles to stay awake and not drift into darkness while she waits for Mac. When Mac finally does reach her he has to truck up the huge cliff, while carrying Rebecca and trying to keep her consious. Our hero finally gets Rebecca to a hospital, only to return with the help of an official, to get her dogs, and sled. For all his heroism Mac wins 3 awards an $15,000. Mac at this ppint is head over heels madly in love with Rebecca, and while she loves him back she is still in denial. But after Mac hears from his father, and hears he has to go back east to go back on trial, ( read story to find out that part folks ), Rebecca goes cold on him, believing he's leaving her. When Mac finally admits he loves Rebecca, she breaks down on him, no more strength to push on, and cries her heart out, only to admit she loves him to, and she'll be here when he gets back
