A story about two women that have and are paying the price for the sins of the father.
Is Sugar Beth Carey really the baddest girl in town? When she returns to the small town where she grew up her past haunts her. Sugar Beth is paying the price now for what a horrible person she was as a teenager. As an adult that has been gone for many years she is no longer the leader of the pack.
The next door neighbor to the carriage house Sugar Beth inherited from her aunt turns out to be her high school teacher Colin Byrne. Colin is now a famous author that is delighted to have a chance to finally get revenge for Sugar Beth's lie that ended his teaching career.
Winnie Davis, the daughter Sugar Beth's father loved, is now a successful woman married to Sugar Beth's high school sweetheart. Winnie feels her world threatened by Sugar Beth's return to Parrish, Mississippi. Mr. Carey was married to Sugar Beth's mother but had a long time mistress that was Winnie's mother.
A story that could only take place in a small southern town. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny but always interesting.

I know this wasn't
I know this wasn't everyone's favorite, but I LOOOOVED this book. It's one of my favorites. Especially the dinner where Sugar Beth had to serve all the people she wronged. I loved how she turned that around and made Colin feel like a complete cad for setting her up like that. It's amazing what SEP is capable of.

Not...
It wasn't really my favorite either! On the other hand I enjoyed it a lot. Sometimes revenge is not so sweet!!
I think it was just different and that is enjoyable.
