Blurb: " This wasn't in my job description... Reporting a break-in, avoiding my overprotective ex-lover, dodging dangerous men out to kill me...not exactly a typical day for a comparative mythology professor. So how did I, Maggi Sanger, get mixed up in all this?
It started with a family legend that connects me to a goddess and charges me with recovering the grail she hid away ages ago. Apparently some powerful people heard the story and are bent on destroying the grail at any cost--including my life. Now I have to find it before the enemy closes in..."
DaVinci Codeish. Action&Adventure interwoven with Romance Elements, and goddess power (as opposed to girl power)... A favourite favourite that I've read before and can't wait to read it again. I'm so glad I have the next one Her Kind of Trouble sitting on my (grail)keeper shelves, too. Loved the heroine-with-attitude and that it was written in the first person, loved the search for grail cup. Loved 2 poss heroes (Lex the sort of anti-hero and Rhys the ex-priest) knowing exactly who Maggi should be with and seeing how they couldn't be together and having that sort of resolved at the end was good as was the to-be-continued relationship.
5* plus. Keeper.

I loved this series. Both books are excellent. The alternate hero gets his story in Lost Calling by Evelyn Vaughn - another excellent book.

Have you read Lost Calling, Sue?
because Rhys gets together with Catrina, and we all know how Catrina and Maggi just don't get on
and then in Seventh Key they actually meet up, it makes for interesting enjoyable reading - a treat in store if you haven't already read the Madonna Key series

Love love love this book and its companions. This was the book that made me understand why people buy more than one copy of a book.
So glad you "reviewed" this! Do you have more books to help us get to our 100,000 book goal? (Please say, "YES!")

Hi Cady, Sadhbh, and Penn
I couldn't wait for Lost Calling to be out over here so got it from Amazon when it was out in the US. Loved it. Think only Evelyn Vaughn could turn Catrina into the heroine and make it work so brilliantly. The Madonna Key books have just come out in the UK and I don't know if I'll buy them all but I've got Seventh Key so I can catch up with Evelyn's wonderful writing, Maggi, Lex, Rhys and Catrina again.
Penn, I've been enjoying the reviews and feeling guilty for not adding the books I've read to the challenge, so, yes I will "review" some of the Anne Stuarts and older Presents that I've been rereading lately.

I loved this book and Her Kind of Trouble. These were excellent. I loved how we got to see Maggi and Lex as children. These books were so totally satisfying.
Sue, I agree the it takes a very talented author to make us actually like Cat when she gets her own story. I think you would really enjoy the Madonna Key books. I am not a big Bombshell reader but this series was just excellent.

Hi Margie
I'm not a huge fan of flashbacks, but loved seeing Lex and Maggi's apart/together relationship from when they were children, too. It gave it more depth and made you see who she should be with... Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't been a big Bombshell reader either, so wasn't sure if I'd like the other Madonna Key books.

Sue, I want to second the recommendation for the Madonna Key books - IMHO - they are one of the best series to have ever come out of Harlequin.
Loved them.

Sue - have you read any more of the Madonna Key books?
Did you have a favourite? Which one?
I think I loved them all differently because of the different voices each of the heroines had. I didn't necessarily "click" with all of them equally but I loved them just the same
