Always A Mother by Linda Warren - Everlasting Love/Super - June 08

Claire and Dean Rennels had been married for 25 years. They had two grown daughters and Claire was finally going to get a chance to go back to college and get a teaching degree.

At 18 they had found themselves becoming parents and because they were in love with each other they got married. Claire gave up her chance to go to college so Dean could pursue a football career. And they had to do it without her parents help altho his mother did help them. It was hard and bad things happened along the way but love prevailed. Their marriage survived struggle and near tragedy because of their love. Most of the burden fell on Claire. Then Dean's football career came to an end due to an injury. He went on to coach high school football.

Now with their daughters grown and on their own Claire thought she would get her chance at college only to find herself pregnant at age 43. She was very disturbed about this and went to the house on the lake that they had bought years ago. Here she had to decide how she felt about the whole thing and what to do.

I didn't really enjoy this book but that is because I really didn't like the format, not because of the story. The author did an excellent job with the content. The story is told in a series of flashbacks which explains their life together.

Always a Mother

What about the format didn't you like? I thinking of getting this and wonder what to prepare myself for

I didn't like the flashbacks. I felt there were too many of them. At the same time I don't know how else the author could tell the story.
