Anything for You by Sarah Mayberry - HQ Blaze

The world according to Sam Kirk has just turned upside down. His best friend and business partner, Delaney Michaels, has returned from vacation a new woman...a gorgeous, hot new woman. Suddenly Sam is thinking entirely inappropriate thoughts about his buddy. Worse, with Delaney's changed look, she's abandoning their friendship in pursuit of the picket-fence dream. It's a nightmare come true. Then one night finds them tangling in the sheets.  It should feel wrong, wrong, wrong...instead, it feels very right. And now Sam knows exactly what he'd do to keep his best friend: absolutely anything.

This turned out good in the end but I kinda wondered where it was going for a while.  I thought she should have been honest w/Sam instead of being so vague.

***SPOILER***

Why not just tell Sam how she felt instead of dropping his friendship like a hot potato?  Either way, she was taking the same risk or not having him in her life.

***END SPOILER***

I loved this story.

I loved this story.  Adored it.  Great friends-to-lovers book, which is one of my fav type of stories.

About Delaney the heroine.... I could understand why she started cutting him out of her life, rather than talking to him about it.  I mean, come on embarrassing.  He really had NOT noticed her as a woman before, he hadn't let himself, and she really had no reason to think he would be happy to hear about her unrequited love.  It would have hurt the friendship anyway. And she was thinking about what she needed, and she needed space away from her perfect-for-her best friend so she had a chance of happiness with someone else.

About Sam... I wanted to yell at him for not falling for the heroine sooner in life, but he was just so adorable in how he reacted once he DID notice her.... (he felt so guilty) that I just had to laugh and like him.  He was a cute man, his feelings were really transparent, and though he didn't think of her sexually before, he always loved her and cared, and once he did start thinking of her sexually....  the sexual tension between them was insanely good.

I'm going to drop my review in here.  Be forewarned, I was practically squealling as I wrote this, so I was a little over-excited....

Oh hell yes.  YUM.  Let me start this review by saying how much I love books where friends fall in lust/love.  It's a great foundation for a romance, you have real caring and combine it with sizzling passion… yum.  The heroine is about to turn 30 and she's in love with her best friend and business partner, Sam.  She sees her sister's family and decides that if she doesn't get Sam out of her life (by quitting their partnership at work and moving out of the apartment next to him) then she'll never marry anyone and have babies.  There simply isn't room in her life or heart for anyone else when she has this closeness with Sam.  I really felt for the heroine!  Great person to empathize with.  The hero is adorable in his own way, he's charming and sexy and he's dumbfounded when the heroine starts cutting him out of her life.  When he starts seeing her in a new sexy light after a makeover, he feels such guilt about lusting after his best friend that he's like a whipped puppy: you can't blame him for not noticing her sooner.  It's a great dynamic between these two.  When they get close, they get GRABBY and throw each other down onto the nearest horizontal surface.  Pure smoking hot.  And she calls him "chicken shit" afterwards.  Their actions/reactions are very believable.  Great book!   Rating: 5/5 stars, kickass friends-become-lovers story.  Kickass!

Hi Julz

I loved this one. I wasn't bothered by her not admitting her love for him. I guess that I really got into her character and I think I would have done the same thing. Anyway, It was a keeper for me. I read it as an ebook and got a copy off eBay. But my book has not come yet. It's will be 20 days tomorrow. I wonder if I should say something yet? I want my book.

Margie :)

Send an email to the person

Send an email to the person you bought it from.  Ask when they shipped it and tell them you haven't received it yet.

Was it being shipped internationally?  Maybe that would explain the time?

If the ebay member IGNORES your message, then you can report 'em to ebay and maybe get your money back, I've never had to do that, but there's insured purchases there right?

Hi Janet & Margie!

I did enjoy the book but I guess I just wasn't that pumped about it like both of you!  I'm a big fan of the "best friends fall in love" type books but this one just kinda frustrated me!  Embarassed

Hi Janet & Julz

Janet, This ebay purchase was my first in years. I did the buy it now for this one and the Velvet Tiger. I got the tiger book in a week but this one is taking so long. I didn't know what to do. I'll send an email tonight. Thanks.

Julz, It's really funny how a book can be just okay or good to one person and a keeper for another. For me, it sometimes is my mood. I am very much a mood reader.

Margie :)

Julz...  yeah, different

Julz...  yeah, different strokes, different folks!

Margie... good luck!  Most ebay people are honest, after all the transactions are tracked and insured.  You made the payment through the "buy it now" feature, so you're safe.  You just need to make sure the shipping is ok.  Hopefully it's just slow.
