This is the second book in "The Precinct, Brotherhood of the Badge" by Julie Miller. This tells the story of Atticus Kincaid, a Kansas City detective and one of four sons of Assistant Commisioner John Kincaid. John was murdered in "Protective Instincts," and all four sons are determined to find his murderer. They're not alone in this. Brooke, his plain Jane secretary, thought of John as a father. She definitely doesn't think of Atticus as a brother, however.
As Atticus and Brooke look for the murderer together, she also acquires a stalker. That means she acquires Atticus as a bodyguard as well. And, of course, they fall in love. During the course of the book, the mystery of John's murder becomes even more interesting.
