Former Army major and MP Jack Reacher is tough as nails and loyal to his team. He sees what most people miss, small details and connections. This time Reacher is summoned by Frances Neagley, his female counterpart, telling him at least one member of their former Army Special Investigations team was thrown out of a helicopter in the middle of the dessert.
In this eleventh book of the series, Neagley summons whatever team members she can find and they start to unravel a lot of bad luck and trouble. As the plot thickens other members of their old team go missing while Reacher and what's left of the old team find themselves embroiled in super-secret government operations and international terrorism. Reacher feels responsible for his team, becoming the team leader again as he was when he was their commanding officer in the old days.
For those who enjoy secular thrillers, this is a must read. There is some sex, but it's minimal. The plot twists are torturous, the violence viscious, but the body count is not nearly as high as other Reacher books.
