This is the first book in Maureen Child's "Kings of California" series. This first story is about Adam the oldest of the King brothers and his neighbor Gina Torino. Though Adam has known Gina all her life they have not been close friends in a long time. Adam is trying to put back together the entire King ranch holdings. Gina's family has owned a portion for many years and her father makes him an offer that includes marriage to Gina. This was a fun story with Adam and Gina finding each other in this very unconventional marriage.
"It is to the credit of human nature that, except where its selfishness is brought into play, it loves more readily than it hates."
Nathaniel Hawthorne – The Scarlet Letter
