This is book one if the Kings of California series. I really enjoyed it. It was emotional and sexy. Adam King is the eldest of three brothers who each run a different part of the King Dynasty. Adam is determined to make the King ranch whole again. His brothers call him obsessed with his quest but Adam has set his mind to do this and nothing stops Adam when he’s set his mind to something. He wants to build the land back to its original acreage and that means getting the Torino’s to sell the land his granddad sold off sixty years ago. When Adam makes his offer, he is stunned by Sal Torino’s response. Sal’s counter offer is that Adam marry his daughter, give her a baby or two, make her happy. No way is Adam accepting that deal. Adam has been hurt by the loss of his wife and son and he is not getting involved in marriage again. But as he walks out of the house, he sees Gina in the distance, he feels that tug of attraction and after talking to her, he surprises himself by asking her out to dinner.
Gina has always been attracted to Adam and now he has finally noticed her. But soon Gina finds out the true reason for Adams interest and she surprises Adam with a plan of her own. If Adam wants the land, she’ll make sure he gets it but she wants Adams baby.
From the back:
Just twenty more acres and millionaire Adam King would restore his family ranch to its former glory. So intense was his obsession, he even considered marrying the girl next door. For Gina Torino’s father was willing to “sell” her in exchange for the much-desired land.
Gina was aware of her father’s manipulative bargain. . . and decided to make a deal with Adam herself. She’d marry the ice-cold rancher. He’d get the land. And she’d get King’s baby.

Hmmm... manipulation....
Hmmm... manipulation.... he manipulates, her father manipulates... I like that the heroine gets into the mix and manipulates a little herself to get what she wants. Fair is fair. Good for her.
I'm curious about this one.
Hi Janet
I liked how the heroine figured out right at the beginning that there was something fishy going on. She confronts dear old dad, a really nice guy who wants her to be happy, and he confesses. The scene with mom, dad and Gina was entertaining.
