Beast of Darkness (2008) by Lisa Renee Jones (SN # 43)

Sarah and an unusual team of paranormal experts were on there way to the small town of Nowhere, TX. The residing sheriff had put in an SOS call to them and Sarah herself had enough signs to know they were urgently needed. When they arrive at the town’s inn it appeared that what had the sheriff all worried was currently in action.  The normally friendly townspeople all seemed to be at each other throats. Before she new it she was being thrown to the ground by a very large man, Max, just ahead of a knife that missed her by inches. While neither of these two seem to be affected by the current delirium everyone else, including her team, was. As Max and Sarah watched things snapped back to normal and not one person seemed to remember the just past aberration. Then an odd rain started to fall, which just underlined the strangeness going on in Nowhere. Max had reasons very similar to Sarah’s for being in town and once he met her his reasons multiplied to a dangerous level, both for him and possibly Sarah herself. With Max working with Sarah and her team they try to unravel (and stop) what is going on, with much peril to all involved.

Another great addition to ‘The Knights of White’ series. The Prologue reminds you where the last book left off and the situation Max was in. This was very helpful as although I remembered vaguely it brought everything back fresh. Both Max and Sarah had things from their pasts that needed to be dealt with in order for them to successfully move on. This was done with support from each other and in conjunction with solving the current problems they were dealing with. Also, both of these two had some problems with faith, in one form or another, which was a bit of an obstacle. Smile
