Lilli McCall became pregnant by one brother. And then he died. Max feels the need to protect the unborn child of his brother, but Lilli begins to work her charms on him.
Little things can annoy me and it has been awhile since I noticed one of those little things. This time it was the use of ‘I’ instead of ‘me.’ The offending sentence is on page 59. “He helped my mother and I…” Now if it did not involve her mother the sentence would be, ‘He helped me...’ Therefore, I believe it should read, “He helped my mother and me…” However, even if I’m wrong it derailed me. ;-)
Okay, back to reading…Hmmm, strange twist at the end. Max is a quintessential alpha male, but Lilli is no pushover. It was an interesting read and it was a fast-paced read. I wish I could say that it was so compelling I could not set it down, but the truth is a set it down multiple times today. There will be Banks fans that love the book, but for me? Thumbs down.
