Bedded for Diamonds by Kelly Hunter... QC #273

Bedded for Diamonds Bedded for Diamonds by Kelly Hunter ~ Harlequin Modern Love
Ratings:
Excellence: Great
Steaminess Factor: Sensual to Yummy

Description & Critique:

They met on a taxi ride home.  She was the driver.  Tristan found out a little too much about Erin and ended up bailing her out of a bad situation.  He became her co-driver and body guard on a trip to purchase opals and sapphires.  They headed off to purchase her stones during his well deserved break from Interpol.  Only the attraction between then was very intense.  Tristan was everything she didn’t want in a man and he definitely didn’t want to give his heart to a woman.  What would their journey together bring?

Kelly Hunter writes an exceptional story that is not dull for one moment.  The sparks between her characters fly off the pages.  I’m surprised it didn’t light a fire in my purse!

This story wasn’t a simple romance.  The characters involved had a lot to work through to be able to be together.  Tristan had to get beyond his shadows and Erin had to learn to accept that being a law enforcement officer was something in Tristan’s blood and it couldn’t change.

Many factors in this book added to the depth of the story:  Pat, the parrot, Erin’s mother, the various characters they met during their travels.  Tristan was faced with a law enforcement situation during this travels that he had to find a creative solution to.  Every little detail added to the story.

Tristan was a great leading man.  Erin spent much of the story surprising him and me, too.  She was a great leading lady.

I highly recommend this book.  It was very entertaining.

Favorite Scene:

It was very difficult to choose a favourite scene.

It would be difficult the beat the last scene in the book.  I don’t want to describe it because it should be read.  The resolution was amazing.

The scenes between Tristan and Pat, the parrot, were great, too.  One scene when Tristan discovered the sexe of the parrot stands out in my mind.

*sigh*  I ordered this

*sigh*  I ordered this book July 7th and it's still in "processing" stage (there was a problem, I emailed them).  I hope it gets to me already!  I keep checking for the status to say "shipped" but it's still not.  Pooey.

I'm really looking forward to this one.  I was in such a grabby Kelly Hunter mood after reading Wife For a Week.

*le sigh*

Deleting this

accidentally pressed "post" twice

I'm in the middle

I'm in the middle of this one now. This one started great. The opening just grabs you and keeps going. Can't wait to get farther into it. Great review and if I wasn't already reading it I sure would be after your review.

Sorry you're

still having a problem Janet. I remember reading something about your order mishap before I went on Vacation. This is such a good one so far hope you can get it.

Looks

like another thumbs up.

Janet- Hope you get it soon

May be bad news...

I'm from Canada so this might make a difference but I ordered on July 1st and it was out of stock!  I was devastated when an angel saved me and let me borrow her copy :-).  I hope you have more luck than me.

I will be trying to track it down in USBs this summer.

I finished

and reviewed it, loved it thought it was great. Hoping for more soon.

I ordered on July 7, and it

I ordered on July 7, and it said still in stock then.  And then when I checked again on July 9th it said out of stock.  So I was hoping I got one of the last copies...  but yeah... not so hopeful now.

You put in an order July 1st and saw it out of stock then?  I'm surprised by that.  I thought my dates were sure.

Janet- did a backcheck on emails

Kelley placed her order when book was in stock but when she got order July 10 book wasn't in order and said it was out of stock

Well no one has sent me

Well no one has sent me notification that my order can't be completed due to the book being out of stock....  so until I heard otherwise I was hoping it would come.  But yeah...  since she had an order before me and didn't get her copy...  I'm not expecting my copy now.

Hmmmm...  I paid via credit card already.  Will they refund me or stop the payment to the card?  Hmmm.  Maybe I should send another email to Harlequin.  But I was just feeling that THEY should be the one to notify me and tell me that the book I wanted is out of stock.  Not me saying "ok, is there going to be a copy for me?"

Hi Janet

usually eHarlequin doesn't charge your credit card until the order is ready to be shipped .... and they only charge for what's in the box

have you received a notification that your order has gone out?

I just received yesterday my July 1st order and surprisingly my July 7th order  .... but I received notification that they were shipped well over a week ago .... Canada Post is fast for parcels, so I'm not sure what eHarl does with the shipments once they're marked as shipped .... unless they're packed in Buffalo and have to cross the border via they're delivery and then to Canada Post?   .... the girls at my Post Office say once it's in the mail from Fort Erie to me it's only about four - five days tops regular mail  ... and yet these take weeks to arrive

hopefully this one won't be sold out .... though you can get it in ebook at the eHarl eBoutique

Kat...  nope, it hasn't

Kat...  nope, it hasn't notified me that its shipping.  The status said "processing" for a week and it has now been "reprocessing" for another week.  I'll send a second email soon I guess.

Might end up getting it as an ebook.  What are the types of ebooks you can get though?  I had a confusing time getting the right program once to read an Adobe ebook I bought off of eharlequin.  MS Reader was also a problem format for me because no matter how I tried to "activate" my MS Reader, it still refused to play books I'd bought and told me "your MSR must be activated first".

eReader software

Hi Janet

I have Microsoft eReader and Mobipocket on my laptop ... for reading off the laptop either work really well

I prefer everything to be in Mobipocket format as I have that on my Palm LifeDrive .... I had problems with mobi at first but that all got resolved ... mobipocket is a format that you can get for just about any device and that's why I like everything in that format ... that way down the road if I change devices all I have to do is notify eHarl of the switch and they'll allow me to download the books again for the new device  (mobi allows I think 3 devices)  ...

since the Adobe 8 upgrade, I don't care for that format, so I won't purchase using that one

quite happy

I'm quite happy with Mobipocket. I'm not sure about registering the MSR but Mobi you enter the PID #. go to ? then "about"

About the different

About the different types...  good to hear your opinions.  I would like to get MS Reader to work, since I like the way it looks (better than Adobe as ya said).  So maybe I'll fiddle with MS Reader for a while, try to activate it again.

I received my OTHER order that I placed the same day as BFD in the mail today.  I sent a second email about BFD to eHarl.  I want to know for sure.

Notifications...

I never get a notification telling me a book is out of stock.  It's listed in the bill in my box.  And they definitely don't charge for those books.

I REALLY hope you get it.  I know how disappointed I was when I tore through the box and it was missing.

Kel

Well that book was the only

Well that book was the only book on my order...  so they didn't send a "oh by the way, this one isn't in stock" note.

I sent an email, we'll see what happens.  I'm preparing myself to get the ebook.  I think I might have got MS Reader to "activate" but I tried some older HP ebooks I had sitting on my eharlequin "bookshelf" and they wouldn't play.  But that might have been because they were such old books.  I don't know.

free ebooks at eHarl ....

Hi Janet ....... at the eHarl eBoutique you can download the Mini Round Robins for free   ....  try downloading one of those to see if MS Reader will work

and you can email eBooks_ecare@Harlequin.ca   ..... and they'll be happy to help you figure out why the other eBooks in your library aren't working   ...... ebooks in your library can be downloaded as many times as you like (exception Adobe format only one download unless you email customer care)   ....  so if there is an issue with any of the books, customer care should be able to fix it
