Betty Neels, Esmerelda: I was warned that all Neels books have pretty much the same plot, and lo, it was true! This is my second Neels, and I am still not sure of the appeal of a romance in which the heroine's time is spent wondering whether the hero is at all interested in her, and the hero is studiously, for the most part, ignoring her curiosity or even actively avoiding it while being nice to her and taking care of her in a paternalistic way, sometimes even discussing her with her family and friends rather than with her. Clearly, these books are not written for me.

I know. I love Betty Neels, but I have to agree with your assessment. Maybe it's because my books were my grandmother's books before she died and now reading her books makes me think fondly of my grandmother. It's nice and predictable and her alphas are not terribly annoying though they can be totally paternalistic. They are a comfort read since everything works out in the end and there is no sex to complicate things.

I like that her heroes are big, quiet men. You don't get many of those in romance.

Well, now you know what to read if you ever get amnesia…if you remember!
