The Billionaire's Blackmailed Bride by Jacqueline Baird (HP 2733)

Back Cover:

Anton Diaz is hell-bent on revenge; he'll seduce and marry the innocent daughter of his enemy. To exact his plan will be no hardship, as Emily Fairfax is as beautiful as she is virginal.

It's only after that Emily realizes Anton is blackmailing her. Yet she can't stop her body betraying her as they spend their days parted in anger and their nights locked in passion..

Favourite Scene:

‘Ah, Emily, you have been listening to gossip. What was it? I was brought up in a brothel surrounded by willing women,’ he mocked. ‘Sorry to disappoint, but it is not true, though my grandmother did own one,’ he admitted

Another Fav Scene:

‘Where are you taking me?’ She blurted the first thing that came into her head.

He chuckled a deep dark sound. ‘To dinner, Emily.’ Slipping a hand around her neck, he tilted her face to his dark eyes dancing with amusement. ‘But ultimately to my bed.’

Yet Another Fav Scene: (*chokes with laughter* the hero has called the navy on his runaway wife, her friends have guns pointed at them)

‘Damn it, Emily,’ Jake Hardington cut in. ‘The man loves you, tell him you love him, and let us get out of here. In case you have not noticed, the rest of us are still standing here with guns pointed at us and Diaz is the only one who can set us free.’

My Review:

I liked that the hero hadn't had double digits when it came to his lovers.  Too often the hero casually says he's had hundreds, and it's nice to see fewer for once.  The heroine wasn't a very sympathetic woman imo, she took a pretty hard stance and too easily made the choice to secretly prevent pregnancy and eventually catch her husband in infidelity and screw him in a divorce settlement.  I'm glad she wasn't a weak doormat, but that level of action wasn't provoked.  I liked that the hero was possessive of her and that they had intense sex, though the heroine stopped hoping it was love and that took a bit of the romance out of it.  Loved the intensity of the feelings in this book though overall.

My Rating: 3/5 stars, I loved many things about this book, but the heroine didn't appeal, I couldn't sympathize with her.
