Black-Tie Seduction by Cindy Gerard (SD 1665)

Back Cover:

She and Jake were polar opposites. Which was why his insistence that they date made no sense to Christine. Yet, if she wanted that mysterious box he'd outbid her on during the town auction, having dinner with the sexy Texan seemed her only recourse.

Christine vowed she'd find something to throw Mr. Thorne-in-her-side's attention off her plan. Like the newly made-over Christine. And by his reaction to her little black dress, she'd found just the thing to keep his interest while she worked on a plan to steal away her prize. But was it possible catching Thorne would be her ultimate reward?

My Review:

Yum yum!!!  I want to scream "keeper" with this one, but I'm not 100% sure, I might have just had a bad day of reading books and this one was just great by comparison.  I loved it.  So light-hearted, great humour, I laughed out loud, I smirked.  I loved that the hero had an almost involuntary compulsion to tease and torment his heroine.  Yummy!  The first chapter of this book was totally a reenactment of Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe (from Anne of Green Gables), he teased because underneath he was attracted, and she bristled with chagrin.  Totally loveable.  I can't see anyone reading this and hating it.  I loved the little battle of the sexes they had.

The hero kind of deliberately hurt the heroine, wanting to remind her that they didn't have a future (because he didn't want her expecting marriage), and I thought that was a little unnecessary, he could have been straight-forward.  But because we got the hero's POV and saw the doubts and crazy love thoughts running through his head, I forgave him because he was in love and just fighting it.  I loved how the hero gave in and told the heroine he loved her at the end, it was a sweet as hell revelation.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars, humour and passion?  Love and hate?  Tormenting each other?  God I love this kind of book!

Hi Janet

Lady, You are bad for my wallet! You seem to read a lot of books that sound so appealing to me. The bummer part is that they are older and I might not be able to find them. Oh well, just keep the good reviews coming. I might get lucky.

Margie :)

Hmmm...  well I got this

Hmmm...  well I got this one from my local library, which has lots of Desires....  I think you said that you don't have a close by library?  Too bad.  It's a good place to find those "older" books.

Hi Janet

There is a library that has an Honor books section but it is about 1/2 hour away. Whenever I am that way and have a chance, I will pick up some books. One good thing about that is that I can turn them in to a closer library which is only 15 minutes away. It is too bad that the closer one doesn't have a section for them.

I will actually be in that area in about two weeks so I hope to get a chance to stop by.

Margie :)

I have a library within a 10

I have a library within a 10 minute walk from my house.  And we can order books in online from the 10 neighbouring libraries in my town.  I love doing that.  I can order in books and pick them up at my local library.  That way the selection is pretty much limitless since I have access to 10 libraries!  And all the books get delivered to the library nearest to me for pick up...  *happy grin*

Hi Janet

My town is the head seat of our county so our library is pretty much it. My local library, about an 8 minute drive away, has a small Honor book section that has a had full of the Har/Sil. They don't have them in the catalog. They also have an online catelog that connects with another county and they will bring the book to you. I've tried searching for books I want, usually new hardcover releases, and they never have them soon enough. I've given up on it.

The library that I like to go to is the one about a 15 minute drive away. It is in yet another county. I like ordering online, they have about 10 libraries that share books, and I get an email for when my book is in. They do have some Har/Sil available but not anything new. And I don't think they are adding any more to the old ones that they have. The only way to suppliment my Har/Sil order is to go to booksales. I'll do that about 2 or 3 times a year and I might get lucky in finding a few books.

Margie :)
